    Question Taos Conditions?

Anyone? Are they close to opening more terrain?

I am heading down for NYE,<antijinx> unfortunately the forecasts are looking bleak</antijinx>.

    Booooo!

What I would give to hit that place during a nice storm cycle. Oh well I guess I could suck it up and make a day trip to Wolfie.

    Thanx Caddy

I would keep an open schedule, although the outlook isn't very good, Taos seems to get those freak storms occasionally that bury the mountain. Good luck!

[Arty crosses fingers] I am going to Taos this year if I have to beg, borrow, and steal. It's been over 10 years since my last trip out there and that's just much too long. Plus I missed those huge storms that rolled in last March or so. So Ullr, I beseech thee. Please bless that fine little town in New Mexico this year. They're good people and deserving of a mighty storm.

When are you going? I'm trying to co-ordinate with a friend who's got family down there a trip in late Jan. Hopefully the outlook is a little better then, hit it last year with a 2ft dump a day before we showed up and 16" that nexxt day, it was great. Can you say Kachina??

We'll see how the season plays out, but I would be up for a little Taos Mini.

That's not a bad idea. Weird too, last night Sobchak and I were talking about heading out there this year. It's been so long, I've forgotten a lot of the place. So I'd be nice to get a little crew. Late January could work...

I will be skiing there from 1/4 to 1/10 with my wife. Praying for dumpage. 95% of terrain was open when we were there last year.

Either way skiing groomers in the sun with my wife will be a good time. I will have my carve on, and demoing lots of skis. Maybe I can test all the fat skis on groomers.

I spent the last four seasons ski bumming there. Two were really fun and we experienced decent seasons, and two were the lowest snow seasons they've had in recent memory.

I'm in Utah now, but can easily be convinced in road-trippin down, especially with a stop at Silverton. The lady and I almost did just that when Taos was having their 1/2 off tix and lodging earlier this season, but couldn't quite get pysched on the current conditions.

If anyone needs beta on the town or mtn, or would like some people to hook up with down there, pm me.

Otherwise, see ya all down there when it gets good later on.

hi tresckow.. i was at taos '78-'84.. you and i have chatted before, when i was using the name lsb finance at the powdermag bb. i think i asked you to say hi to don arne who works (or at least he used to) at the sun deck of the dog...... i am dreaming about getting back to taos for a week this season in march, but it's tough for me to get away cause of wife, kids, work, so i am not sure i can make it happen. .. my experience at taos was a bit like yours, but in my case i only had 1 horrible low snow year, 1 mediocre, 3 pretty good, and 1 that was fantastic (78)
