Colorado Maggots....what's with all the flapping?

So with how much you guys are flapping about how good it is out there.....what gives? I just looked at some of the snow depths and well it's the same in general as the depths in Utah. Well, Alta actually has more than you guys......and our season so far has been mediocre at best so far.

Soooo....what's with all the flapping about how sick every day is out there? Are you guys just going crazy over 6" storms?

haven't you gotten the memo?? Colorado and summit county in particular sucks.

Best start to a season in 10 years and it barely measures up to an average winter at Alta.

Different snow (not as dry generally) different terrain (less rocks/cliffs) etc. means a banner Early Season in CO vs a Middlin' one in UT.

but here I am making sense when there's some shit to be slung....

We might have more snow in UT, but it's more like 5 minute epoxy, than snow.

Sorry but the sad reality is that CO snow is a good deal lighter than Utah snows.

All the flappin = Better here now than the last few years.

Wouldn't that make the snowpack even shallower then?

I was in Aspen last year and everyone was stoked on the sick pow day we had. It was 6, maybe 8" at best and you could feel the bottom. It's all relative I guess. 300+"/year v 500+". But let the vacationing hordes keep going to coloraddy.
Now when I've visited silverton and t-ride, another story altogether. Deep.
Still LOVE aspen though, going back in January. There's just something about that place.

comparatively yes. Inch for inch, Places like the basin and CB are harder to fill in than places like Alta/Bird Squaw.

If you don't know or ain't been the whole Colorado deal won't be really explainable. We have a lot of great skiing but it isn't like many other places.

Who the fuck cares? You ski in your state, we'll ski in our state. We're all happy. (besides, Vail sucks anyways)

    bullshit,
    prove it.
    lived both places.
both have their blower storms and their drier storms.
Utah is more arid in general...

Steamboat has 2 feet more than Alta, and WP has the same snow... I think we're just stoked to have some great snow this year.

Imagine the stoke level you'd get if we got UT snow every year... we're all just happy fockers out here.

ITS FUCKING SNOWING. No need to piss on our campfire midget. Its where we live and we are getting way better snow than average.

waaaaaah, it pales in comparison to Alta, i am so fucking tired of hear that shit. I love alta, if we could have that snowfall and terrain this close to Denver we would be psyched, but we are happy with what we got. Usually we aren't out getting this much pow inbounds till after January, so wouldn't you be stoked as well? Please take the colorado bashing else where we are really all tired of hearing it.

    ps isn't raining there?

I sit corrected. You learn something new every day. (And since the New York/Denver thing wasn't it this MUST be.)

For 2004-2005 Snow densities according to SnoTel:

    Vail Pass: 8.1%
    Wolf Creek Pass: 13.1%
    Rabbit Ears Pass: 8.8%

    Alta's own Website: 9.3%
(average for the last 24 seasons) 8.28%

I must say having skied both last year and singly many times before that a 3ft dump in Alta seems much more "blower" than the equivalent 3 ft dump in Vail. My laughter earlier was based purely on anecdotal evidence, not fact, I admit.
