    Camera Bag Suggestions

Any suggestion for a camera bag for my new D70s with 18-70mm lens? I'm looking for something for my trip to africa, and I need it to fit in my Dana Terraplane pack and be small, since I'm packing light. I would like it to maybe have enough room for a 80-300mm-ish lens as well, but I may not get one of those, so I may not need it. Some extra room for shades and stuff, since this will be attached to me for 2 weeks straight, would be nice. Just curious if anyone has a bag like I described that they really like. Thanks.

Use a pack that you already have and like. Don't call attention to your gear with a camera specific bag.

If you know your history, then you would know where you coming from, then you wouldn't have to ask me, who the heck do I think I am.

I found a kata r103 on ebay for a good price. Kata also makes body armor for soldiers, so I expect a durable pack that will protect my d70 and my 80-200ed. This pack has a sleeve for a laptop. Nothing on the pack to suggest you are housing $4000 in electronics

I'm getting a Kata R-102 tommorow, everything I have heard about them has been good. It is pretty much the same as the 103, without the laptop compartment. I'll let you know how it works as soon as I try it this week.

Since you are going small and compact, get an optech neoprene case. It will fit just your body and the lense, kinda like the old skool leather wrap around cases. That way you can toss it in your other pack with out any worries.

    I agree with Grant.

Otherwise I'm a fan of top load shoulder/lumbar bags for small rigs.
These are smaller than backpacks, very fast to access your camera, versatile (can be worn as a shoulder bag, lumbar bag front or back, or combo), and 1 camera and one lens (or two) hardly warrants a full photo backpack.

I have a large one (Lowe Pro Offroad)... much more than you need.

I just got a Mountainsmith Beacon on sierratradingpost.com for cheap. Seems cool. It fits my Rebel XT and a 70-300 lens and an 18-55.
