    Thumbs up Energy Conservation (Green-Related)

2 years ago, my family decided to turn our home into a more efficient household as far as energy conservation goes.

Step 1 - Invest in energy efficient appliances:
New windows, new furnace, new A/C, new W/D, new refrigerator, new dishwasher, new oven/range, low-volume toilets.

    Result:
Energy cut by 50%; above purchases paid themselves off in no time.

Step 2 - Change in personal habits:
    - Not letting water run.
    - Turn off computers every night.
    - Soak laundry in tub overnight before washing.
    - Water lawn before 9 a.m.
    - Flushing only after negotiating the release of some little brown hostages.
    - Planting greenery in strategic location to minimize solar heating of the house during the summer.
    - A/C turned on only when temps rose above 80. Set. temp to 72 deg.
    - Set heating temp. to 64 deg.

    Result:
25% further reduction in energy costs.

    Total:
75% reduction in energy costs. My brother won the bet having the closest guess @ 30% reduction in cost.

That my friends, amounts to a buttload of money remaining in the bank.
