I hope it cooled off out there. Here in Steamboat we went from the most epic opening ever to 1" of hard crust over another 12" of fresh two nights ago. Everyone showed up expecting another epic day...now it is about 36 degrees. We don't even contemplate having to deal with this out here. Two weeks ago it was negaitive 36 degrees...![]()
I need a couch too if there's a good storm coming next week.![]()
You see, in this world there's two kinds of people, my friend: Those with loaded guns and those who dig. You dig.
I take it back about Andermatt. I think Hokkaido is a better bet right now.
The Atlas mountains of Morocco are also looking good.

Anyone ski Kirkwood today? How's it looking for tomorrow? I'm driving up tomorrow, I think, no matter what. This has been the latest start of the season for me in a long time, so I don't really give a shit if it sucks, my season pass is probably all lonely over there by itself.![]()

it was firm to quite firm in the am.
sunbowl warmed up and was esuper efun.
cornice was quite entertianing, but you have to ski slow into the runouts due to the massive runnels.
best skiing on the mountain yesterday was shirly chutes.
As promised I will bring a nice cold storm when I arrive around the 30th, just like the past few years![]()

I'm out for tomorrow but will be up for Friday and the weekend. Tomorrow is still looking very windy so Rose may or may not be the hot tip. Chutes are still closedRose closed midday, and I think the top of Heavenly was closed all day too.
I'll be at Rose or the Heave depending on conditions and inclinations. gimpy, Arty: lmk if you'll be there Friday.
good chance i'll be at the heave for a few runs friday morning before the holiday crowds and blackouts hit.
I roll out on the 26th, was going to push it back a little since it isnt snowing, so that i could make some money...............but F iti want to be there for new years.Originally Posted by lph
Got to Rose at about 2:20pm today just as Lakeview lift closed; Magnum and East Bowl were already closed due to winds. I took the baby green lift and hiked up Lower Lakeview and skied down. Snow was soft. Overall, lack of upper mountain access sucked!
It was snowing-freezing rain and winds were picking up dramatically by 3:30pm.
I can make turns tomorrow morning if it's good. Keep temps low, please, somebody, keep the temps down.![]()

Watching it pour at 6700' is starting to get me thinking about river flows vs snow reports.
