Not me...I've only been expressing respect for the old cocksucker ever since we made up.

    When are people gonna learn.

Freshie, deleting this thread won't do it, there really is only one way to right the wrong: sacrifice the spats to Ullr. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

    Freshies,

If the forecast holds ( 12-18” above 7500), your new spats will be allot of fun on the top part of AM. I think tomorrow will be a lot like Mon. It will be sierra cement, yes. But with some big boards (Sanouks, spats, etc) it will be fun carveable snow in Alpine bowl, Palisades, D’s and Wolverine. Snow will probably turn super heavy and nasty just below the top of roundhouse and wear your gortex/gortex-like gear.

Maybe, I’m just an old New England skier and the lack of good snow days this year. But if there are some good turns to be had at the top, I’ll deal with some crappy snow or a little rain at the bottom.

(If anyone from AM is reading this, maybe you should fire up Alpine Bowl chair tomorrow. Keep us above the rain and out of the wind. Please.)

So tomorrow will not be worth calling in sick for, but if you are up here, have the day off and the season pass it should fun for a couple hours.

Besides, its always fun watching a new spats rider trying to traverse on those things. Be careful on the 1st day.

on Sacrifice option: I would try those big blue boards 1st.

Damn, I keep thinking the same thing up here in the PNW. But at least you guys have some elevation on your side. And while it may not be "epic" snow, at least it's snowing up high. We're watching a once proud snowpack (which was almost 100" @ Baker on Nov. 30) dwindle within sight of last year's December

Fock. We need some artic air to spread the love. Hang in there, LPH- at least you guys will see a turn for the better before we see a drastic change up here.

Yup, talking to AKA yesterday, next 3 or 4 day weekend I get I am driving to SLC if the present pattern continues. My 'old' legs don't like these variable conditions.

Spats has been a board member since Feb 2003, can't they sacrifice a few jong newbs instead? SquwakFag won't be missed by nearly as many maggots as Spats.

psssttt- haven't you been hearing the whining of unperfect snow from the Utards? phrases like "worse than anything in Tahoe" have been popping up in all seriousness.

looks like i am staying put tonight, gonna go get liquored up in SF w/some friends and watch the rain come down, then head back up to Truckee tmrw afternoon, and will be on the hill first thing Fri AM. Looks like tmrw may be as windy and stormy, so no reason to hurry back up right now.

also, what about a trip to Rose? Do ya think the elevation might mae the skiing there, well, more like skiing (vs slop)?

and LB, trust me, if i thought it might work, i would gladly sacrafice the Spats and take one for the team!

That is planning way too far ahead, I don't even know what my January schedule is yet. (seriously) If I go it will be a last minute decision based on time off and conditions.

Looks like Thursday might be the good day for Rose. Snow should be like it was opening day (Without rocks) and the rest of the mountain may open.

    Right now

    Weather at Elv. 8,260'
    Temperature: 35° F
    Winds: High 30-45 mph
    Summary: Overcast/Approaching Storm
Forecast: Continued Snow with deep accumulations

All lifts currently on Wind Hold

I will be there First thing in the morning. BTW the roads will suck!! Unless you have a 4WD and think that sort of thing is fun. (ME)

If I was not hostage to the Alpine Kids Area (two kids under 4), I would going Mt Rose or Squaw if it looked like upper mtn would be open.

lph...as long as the hospital doesn't run out of leeches, won't you have to work?

j/k...I will be up on Sat., skiing Sun and Mon. Who else is going to be around still?

Doesn't look like Granite Chief or Headwall are likely to open soon, though. Apparently, on Sunday, the Palisades were seeing 132mph gusts.

I made some phone calls today and decided that currently UT is not worth going to and Aspen is also unseasonably warm (hiking Highlands Bowl in a T shirt???) but at least it's not raining (yet).
All things considered, the closest bestest snow is probably Andermatt.

Nope, I'm in Marin, and I'm too scared to even look at the surf around here right now.
