demo binding performance

What is the performance difference in demo bindings vs. the real deal? Also, if you plan on reselling the ski's, is it better to have demo tracks on there so that the buyers don't have to remount for their boot size (as far as getting a better price for resale)?

demos = more adjustability for boot sizes (friends can use them, easy to resell, can find the center of the ski that you like)

retail = less wieght and less play

bindings are the same, just the tracks that they are mounted to are different

I have found that the Salomon demo binders develop heel slop quickly, and serious (like your boot won't stay in) heel slop before too long- I think mine each lasted about 50 days. That was only two sets though.

Thanks for the replies. Basically, I just scored a good deal on a new pair of Solly 1080 Guns (go ahead and start hating), and figure that I will sell them in a season or two. So I was just wondering if it wouldn't be better to put demo bindings (new) on there for resale, or if I should just get a retail pair for myself and let the buyers remount (unless they have big feet). I'll probably only ski them about 20 times a season, so hopefully the heel slop will only be an issue for the buyer ;-)

Personally, I would sooner buy skis that needed re-mounting- even foam core ones- than I would buy skis mounted with two year old demo bindings. But that's just me. Also keep in mind that even non-demo bindings have heel tracks that are adjustable, as mtnlion said, so a buyer with a different shell size wouldn't necessarily need to remount them.

If you already have the demos in hand, then that's another thing.

I would think that demo tracks would detract from a ski's value.

Use retail bindings. A single remount isn't going to do anything to a ski strength-wise.
