Should these be monted at the boot center or back a bit? The line is way forward compared to Dynastar or K2 and looks silly compared to Exploders.....I've been skiing on a freinds pair, they behave like snowlerblades and don't float woth a dam in Pow
Remember the mounting line isn't the big target on the top of the ski; it's the tiny line on the side near the length and serial #.
Also remember it's a twintip, so it'll look like it's mounted way forward compared to a non-twin. If you sawed off the rear tip it'd be about a 182.
Since manufacturers vary widely on where they put the line, I like to find the center of the effective edge and get BOF (ball of foot) close to that. I ended up mounted about 0.5cm back based on this measurement...try it yourself.
If I had it to do over I'd maybe push it back another cm, but I don't have any problem floating in pow, so I'm leaving it alone. But if you're used to Volkls (which are mounted WAY back) you might try 2cm back.
It's funny to put several skis of the same length from different manufacturers next to each other and see where the boot center lines are drawn. There are some HUGE differences...
No line stamped in any of the sidewalls, one printed there 3mm forward of the target thingy...moving them 20 or 25mm back, this will be similar to Rossignol mounting but way forward of K2 and still looks strange compared to Volkl

The side of the ski should look like this:
188 | xxxxxxxxx xxx Made In Austria
The little | between the 188 (or 178 or 168) and the serial number is the boot center line. It's a lot more than 25mm back from the target.
