SNOWSTRUCK - In the Grip of Avalanches - by Jill Fredston

    Two thumbs up.
Would make a great stocking stuffer for any snow obsessed folks on your list.

Hard to describe, but its a combination biography/avalanche history and rescue. Great portrayal of the Alaska scene.
She and hubby Doug Felser wrote "Snow Sense" and have been the principal avy folks in AK for years.

Its not a heavy read like an avy guide. Not light hearted, either, with all the death and destruction.

Not pulitzer material, but a good read nonetheless.

But they’ll put us in jail if we kill all the telemarkers

Just finished it. Agree with Core Shot on all counts.

Worth noting that it is highly informative about drivers of individual decision making and group dynamics - in a story telling sort of way.

    Big thumbs up.

Coming from someone that hasn't willingly read a book since High School... i found the first chapter very enjoyable and I am looking forward to reading the rest of it.
