    Lost a Loved One

I received the unfortunate news that a younger cousin of mine was murdered yesterday afternoon (12/12/2005) in New Port Richey, FL.

These links provide all the details that I know about:

Patrick was raised by a single mother, and was an only child. My folks would often host him for a month or two during summer vacations so that he could spend time with his cousins (who all primarily lived in NH) and extended family, and get the attention that he deserved, but that his working mother couldn't give him all the time. He was a funny little guy, and I always enjoyed taking him to the local pool, riding bikes around the neighborhood, and giving him the razzing older cousins usually give.

He had a rough adolescence, with a rash of drug and criminal arrests, and was in and out of youth centers and private military schools which one of our uncles had volunteered to pay for in the hopes that he would walk a straighter path. He had seemingly turned the corner - he finished high school, was involved in a volunteer/fireman training program. He had a fiancee. And maybe a child, though I'm ashamed to admit I don't know for sure, because I hadn't heard from him since his mother's wedding.

    RIP, little buddy.

    So sorry.

So much life in front of that young man. Tragic.

My condolences to you and your family.

Wow, just checked this forum looking for Beaver's latest and this is the first thread.

D - I'm so sorry for your loss. I too grew up with a cousin who spent much time in our family since theirs was, should we say "less stable" than ours. I could only imagine losing her.

Call me if you need to vent/cry/whatever.
