12/10/05 - "No Particular Place to Go" - short TR

Last Saturday's crew was dtm, JWest, Lil Stevey, Powho + myself. Started from White Pine trailhead with no particular place to go in mind except to be out all day and get some good shots in the end of the day light. Turns out we should've picked a goal - probably would've been a little more "productive". Oh well, all are safe and fun in the hills with friends was had.

gramps blew by us just before the red pine/white pine juncture - would've got a shot of him but it would've only been of snow melting on the trail behind him from his dynafit rocket boosters

the prodigal son (dtm) has returned and found his way to the top of Pink Pine ridge to admire the views after climbing over some gnar, gnar that made him "feel like he was driving a 60's muscle car with bald tires on patches of ice"

the resident tele-sickbird (JWest) in his natural habitat trying to scope the line he should've opted for. the one he and lil stevey chose cliffed out over a gi-normous cliff with no way out 'cept back up, up, up

dtm buttering some sunny pow with his schteeeezy form

will try and get more pics next time; still not fully into "stop and shoot" mode as skiing is just too damn much fun

sounds like a good time. Let me just say that the big stix are very big and heavy! Next winter I will have a lighter setup hopefully. I had to endure scott raynor from valdez heli guides jabbing me sunday about a surcharge he would tack on if I showed up in AK with those skis

Next time follow the skin track I break for you the day before. It would've led you to goodness, not couloirs ending in 200ft cliffs.

.... so why don't you post the pic of you looking down the NW coulie at all rock ..... i'm kind of surprised you didn't ski it any way by rapping the top since you carried the rope all the way up there

Back to the original message. Can you please post a pic of the "Death Trap" couloir you and your buddies were in? I would love to see that.
