    Help! Mexico/passport question...

Heading to Mexico on the 27th...left my passport in Chicago...can't you get into Mexico and back into the states just with a driver's license?

No. You need a passport, but you might be able to get a temporary one if you can't get yours.

The only parts of Mexico that don't care about passports are the border towns. For instance, TJ lets you get by with a driver's license. I can confirm that you need a passport everywhere else. I was just in Puerto Vallarta for Thanksgiving and a passport was required.

I had a roomate whos parents live in Mexico and twice he lost his passport two weeks before he was supposed to go down there. Once he couldn't go and the other time he somehow got a temporary one. If you can't get yours I would head to the post office and ask, or check around on the internet and see if you can get one.

Ever heard of FedEx? Something as small as a passport can be couriered in a day or two. Doesn't even cost very much.
If you have a problem & think that someone else is going to solve it for you then you have two problems.

Dood, you're going to Mexico! Have a new passport made while you're there. Pick up some cheap prescriptions as well. Bon Voyage!

Everyone is sort of correct. Yes, you can go to Mexico without your passport. However, you gotta have a copy of your birth certificate. Since it's a copy, just have it faxed to you.

You can get into Mexico with a six-pack of Taco Bell. It's getting back into this country that's the hard part..

Even for travel between Canada and the US you need a DL and a birth certificate now. They don't always ask for them but if they do and you don't have both you're fucked.
