    What's the point?! NSR

So its Sunday afternoon and I'm watching football. I'm not skiing because I live in Wisconsin. The "Homeland Security" folks decide it's time to break into all three major networks to inform us that there is increased terrorist chatter. They further explain during the broadcast that the threat level has been raised today from yellow to orange. I don't want to hear this. Why do Americans need to know this? Maybe I am careless and I feel my ignorance is bliss. Am I the only one that feels like this?

Well, the rationale is that people should be more aware of the threat when it's high so they can be on guard...loose lips sink ships, or something. Who knows. I think here in NYC we're permanently at the orange level anyway.

What blew me away was watching 'Meet the Press' this morning, and seeing what a true asshole Tom Delay is. I'd never listened to him for more than a few minutes, but hearing the ridiculous fiction he was trying to spin about how more tax cuts will solve the impending financial disaster of the deficit was enlightening.
That, along with his insinuation that Democrats are against helping abused children, was enough to convince me that followers of the Republican ideology must be brain dead.

it's because the same poop slingers who are pissed about your civil liberties being infringed upon are also bitching about the govt. not informing people of threats and acting accordingly. if there was a terrorist act after noticable increases in chatter and the govt. did not act accordingly and warm people of the threat, they would be had by the balls. it is poop. all boils down to the tail wagging the dog and political choices being based of the reactions or potential reactions of a poorly informed, inactive voting populous. end rant.

dex, ain't tom great? Last year in College I took a Congressional Politics simulation where the whole course was based around picking a representative and playing their role in a simulated congress. I got the oppertunity of a lifetime, to play Tom Delay, it was possibly the most fun I have ever had, I got to act like a total asshole 24-7 and basically do whatever made myself and the republican party more money. I can't even go into the corupt and shady details of all the mean spirited shit I pulled, there are girls in that class who wouldn't even talk to me after I got up and declaired that until rape survivors started contributing massive amounts of money to the Republican party there was no way that we should shift money and time away from building a legitimate balistic missile defense shield and making sure it was developed in liberal democrats districts forcing them to vote for the bill.

The man is pure evil, I played him for 10 weeks and it took me two months to shake out all of his character traits, for example when they caught the sniper suspects I remember thinking "great that means we can defeat the gun control measure that we're considering because the media will move on to a new story" I mean this guy is sick in the head. I don't know how he can go to sleep at night he's such a snake

I was sitting here earlier. watching the Lions lose their NFL record 24th connsecutive game. I would have been happy to have Fox news jump in with any news. Including the the fact that a new string of the flu has popped up. Okay not really related, but unless Tom Delay comes out against snow, it just doesn't seem to matter(republicans and democrats are the same. they only want to be elected). Mabey the Lions will win a road game next year.

I'm glad to know the alert was elevated. Instead of standing in that hellish bureaucratic mess at the aiport for 2 hours, I'll have to do it for 3 hours this week. Nice, real nice.

It's good that they keep the public informed of the aledged level of threat to terrorist attacks. The normal Joe Schmo is the best observer of any "suspicious" activity that there might be. It keeps the risk in the back of their minds, and maybe makes them a bit more on the lookout for anything.

I think some of the procedures of the security personnel at the airports also is modified. I'm just guessing, however....

    no fear

He guys ,the sadest thing i'm thinking about those red, yellow level of terrorist attacks is in your country you got more chance to get killed by a neighboor ,going to 7eleven, driving or even in your high school(if you're student)....than by terrorism,i know this is awfull and this is coming to Europe as well,so don't let them(gouvernement,medias,terrorists...)rule your life telling you ALL the time what to do,in some case what can we do about this...nothing .By the way ,come to Europe to ski, you'll be amazed how much you'll be welcome, even in France were i'm from and sad about people who think french people ates americans, that's just tv bullshit remember...
