    Favorite Tequila

I love sipping tequila. Cuervo 1800 has always been my poison of choice. I have never tried some of the really expensive tequilas. What is your fav. for every so often consumption?
P.S.: My other favorites include: Makers Mark; Stolichnaya; Jaegermeister; Warsteiner; and Schneider Weisse.

I'm a big fan of Cabo Wabo as well as just about any kind of Patron. I tend to prefer the clear tequila's over the gold though. Both will run you just a bit more than 1800, but are much better in both taste and quality.

    Patrone is the goods...
I went out there in search of experience. To taste, and to touch, and to feel as much as a man can, before he repents.

Patron is very very good and prolly my personal favorite but at ~$55/bottle it is tough to buy a lot of. But a decent inexpensive bottle is Sauza Hornitos or the Comemorativo both very good ~$26/bottle

you can't beat Patron or those handblown bottles, but Sauza and Cuervo is good enough for relatively cheap.

If you're a real man, you'd hit the Absinth! Ho shit, that is a fun ride. They make it without wormwood now, so you don't trip out, but that spice would put hair on a woman's chest.

I've enjoyed a few worms out of bottles of Monte ALban.

I did 3 triple shots of Cuervo in college, (on top of 4 beers and a gin/tonic) and I think that is why I stutter today. I cant smell tequila without cleaning off my shoes.

Alaska is pretty far from Mexico, but I have a variety of flavors in my cabinet, representing three distinct regions. The smoothest Tequilas come from the Jalisco region of Guadalahara, and say 100% blue agave on the label. If it`s blended with grain alchohol (like Cuervo Gold and 1800) I won`t touch it, that`s for the college frat boys. I do like the Cuervo Tradicional for everyday margharita use, along with triple sec, Rose`s lime juice, and a splash of Grand Marnier on the rocks with salt. Patron is even better for margharitas.

For sipping or as an aperitif, I like the smoothness of Don Julio anejo. I have some Porfidio reposado in a blue ceramic bottle that`s also outstanding. I got a bottle of Sotol Hacienda from the Chihuahua region that`s made from the agavacea plant, a wilder cousin of the agave; it`s richer and sweeter in taste, similar to a fine cognac. Rounding it all out is a bottle of Monte Alban mezcal from the Oaxaca area. Not for everyone as it has more of a medicinal quality to it.

Bueno tequila por favor! Gracias senor.

Another one I have sampled is Corazon. Not too bad mid $40 range, not quite as smooth as the Patron and a bit more bite than the Sauzas

Herradura silver is my favorite "value" fine tequila, about $34 a bottle around here, $25 in New Hampshire.

Cabo Wabo silver, Patron anything, and Chinaco anejo rule, also. But will cost you.

Keep the silvers in the freezer for sipping. Nothing like feeling your face melt and brain numb after a hot summer's day when taking that first ice cold sip. Do the anejos at room temp.

That's Mezcal... not tequila. Sorta like saying Gin = Vodka.

My favorite tequilas are all expensive. I love to sip it on occasion, but don't go through enough of it to need to budget myself. My Favorites:

Jose Cuervo la Reserva de la Familia -- tastes more like a cognac than tequila. Unbelievably good.

El Tesoro de Don Felipe Anejo -- still given as the official present by the Mexican President to visiting Leaders.

I like cheaper tequilas as well, like Sauza Tres Generaciones and Herradura Anejo, but they just don't compare to the first two for rich sipping goodness.

A final thought: good tequila doesn't need a lime to keep it down. A pinch of salt is ok sometimes, but I prefer it plain.

That stuff is amazing. It's worth the $70-80 per bottle.

My personal favorite is Herradura Anejo. In fact, it's my favorite alcohol. It's just so damn good it's not even funny. The Reposado is also really good.

    Other excellent selections include:
    Gran Centenario Anejo
    Corralejo Anejo

just to add, Patron is selling an orange liqueur called Citronge that makes a fine sweeting element for your margaritas at home. Have your local spirits purveyor order you some. Cheaper than Grand Marnier.

PUTTING GRAND MARNIER IN A "MARGARITA" IS THE SIGN OF A GAPER. TRIPLE SEC, PREFERABLY COINTREAU, ONLY.

Straight tequila I prefer Don Julio, although after a few shots it doesn't really matter.

If I am forced to drink a margarita, I want some orgeat in it.

    A margarita is:

    Tequila
    Triple sec
    Lemon or lime juice
    Sugar or simple syrup

Shaken over ice and served up.

No fucking sweet and sour, Grand Marnier, orgeat, blue curacao, strawberries or any of that other shit. AND NEVER BLENDED.

GODDAMN YOU GAPERS ARE PISSING ME OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Thumbs down Tequila=Eeeeeeviiiiilllll

Tequila is nasty, it's dirty(yes, even Patrone silver and other "high end" Tequila). If the devil made a drink, it would be Tequila.

I'll take O'Bans(Scotch, for the uneducated horde) any day, but the Tequila is all yours buddy.
