    Reuse wax shavings?

So this may be a stupid question, but supposing your low on funds and were thinking of saving a few bucks are there any major performance problems with reusing wax shavings. Granted it's a little harder to melt them with the iron it would save a decent amount of wax if you just scrape into plastic box and then ball up and remelt. (I did search for this but wax is a 3 letter word, so if this post is somewhere else just link me).

if you can afford to ski you can afford to not worry about wax shavings.

Part of the job of wax is to get microhairs, dirt, and oxidation off of the bases - reusing dirty wax undermines this. If you want to use less wax, use the "hot crayon" method where you melt the block against the iron, then rub the melted block directly on the ski (instead of dripping) - run the iron over this and you get good consistent coverage with less wax. Just make sure you use enough to protect your bases from overheating...also you can get away with waxing less if you use a soft metal brush (such as copper) and just brush the ski instead of waxing (about every other time) - this will clean out the structure, get rid of dirt and oxidation, and save you money.

Keep in mind that part of a hot wax's job is to pull embedded dirt outta the base for a smoother glide.
I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just gonna ask them where they're goin' and hook up with 'em later.

Thanks, didn't even think of the dirt thing for some reason... Should have been kind of obvious.
