hey there mags,
Ive just got back from the 2nd tour of the season and have noticed that my left groin area feels really strained and hurts a bunch after about 2 hours in...is this just muscles not used to the activity? Any certain exercises i should do? Thanks for any advice.
I have similar pains touring myself. I was told it was from weak hip flexor muscles, ruined by years of mogul skiing. Back in the day I'd get off the hill from skiing moguls and have to walk bow legged back to the car like a cowboy it hurt so much.
I guess hanging from a chinup bar and lifting your legs up into a sitting position strengthens them. There's more comfortable ways to do this exercise in a gym, ask someone that works there. I can't remember the name of the contraptions they have for it.
I had to ditch my Day Trekkers and buy a touring set-up with mid-fat skis because my pain never fully goes away. A light set up helped a bunch. Having lots of snow on your skis while touring kills me. So I avoid spring touring in heavy snow and breaking trail on deep days.
