Can you mount pilot binders flat?

Looking at regular sollys today and comparing with a pair of old pilots I have, they look pretty darn similar. If I obtained some solly riser pads, could I use my old pilot bindings on any ski?

First-generation Pilot bindings use custom base plates on both the toe and heel. These bindings can only be mounted on the Pilot skis they were bought with. I suppose if you could find a set of 912s or 914s you could swap out the Pilot parts. This would probably be more trouble than its worth.

Later Pilot bindings (starting with the AK Rocket Pilot and the second generation Crossmax) are identical to retail bindings, and thus can be mounted on any ski.
