    Alta Snow Report 6:51am 12/4/05

Nuked all night, windy as hell. Snow is up to the bumbers of some cars, and some are buried in snow drifts in the Peruvian parking lot. The alta site says 9", but I say there is more, and more is still coming. A bit of interlodge going on this morning too.

Gonna be a cold day of face shots.

    Looks awesome!
Canyon road is still closed looking at a 9:30 opening!

Looks like you have the mountain to yourself!

    Enjoy!

I thought it was funny when my roomate told me he was leaving to go up the canyon at 8:00 and actually left. Enjoy it before the masses arrive McWop.

It was sweet. Got third chair on Wildcat (i picked right), which opened at 9:45 or so. Collins did not open for some time. I had two killer pow runs in the Ho's and collins still had not opened. First face shots of the season. It was cold, and I had truble keeping my damn hands warm.

I will post a little TR when I get back.

    I like Interlodge.

Cold doesn't even come close to explaining today up at alta, barely got above 0 degrees all day, plus it was windy and there were white-out conditions all day long. Still was a fun day, wildcat was definetly the way to go early since collins didn't open until like 10:30 - 11.

Big ups to a dude that lives nowhere near the goods but still gets the goods. P.s I just got back from a little inner harbour, Fells Point, Maritime Museum mission last week. Nice town.

Brrr!!! I am still wearing my down jacket!

Snowbird today was decent. I had to wait in line forever on some lifts, and it was getting tracked out pretty fast. Even some of my favorate stashes were being touched. The wind really put a damper on things as well. All in all, yesterday was better in my opinion. Supreme was just too good!

i sat on the road this morning from 8:40 to about 9:20 or so....the singles line on collins was already super long when i got there but i noticed wildcat opened first yesterday so i made that same call as well ended up in the 2nd or third row no worse off than the peeps who had stayed up there for the night. not too bad, i say.

and i just saw RB on the TV saying it was -35 degrees at top of collins with the windchill!!!!! i had to defrost my toes multiple times all weekend, but the snow was oh so nice.

oh, and super good times hanging out in the GMD with everyone on Sat. until 8:30pm waiting for the traffic to chill out. "oh, we can still see taillights sitting in the driveway to the canyon road?? OK, more beer!" "hello? AG? you left at least 30min ago and you just passed snowbird?? OK, more beer!"

...my quads hurt and I still have my gear on because I'm so cold.

The cold meant no lines after 1pm and 15min laps of greely, so deep. Wind packed, but pow is pow

Man, what a fun Saturday and oh so cold. Huge thanks to AG for waiting for me and helping me ski the steepest and deepest I have ever been on skis!

Fun to see a lot of you up there and those Scratch BC's made skiing a whole new experience for me.

Still super exicted about that day, so damn fun.

And half way down we were seriously contemplating turning around and "getting stuck at Alta and having to ski the next day", had permission from 2 out of 3 wives. But us 3 dads did the responsible thing.

    My legs were toast anyway.

Friggin' 90-100 mph winds on the Divide/Front range here in CO today. All that snow from last week is now in Kansas. Can you say, Wind Slab? Fack!!!!

Bwa! That came out pretty funny.

It was fun skiing with everyone this weekend! Buzz's reaction looking back up at the line he skied was classic.

I wish it would have stayed a little fluffier yesterday, but hey, it was still good, despite all the waiting. We packed breakfast and left the house at 7:30 and waited on the road. And then got there and waited in Collins line for about... forever. But that first run down West Rus was excellent.

I know I was pretty out of breath cause my rib was hurting, but what did I say, I was so high on adrenaline, looking back up it just looked steep and I was pretty amazing I skied it with that much pow. I'm sure I said a few 4 letter words in excitement.

I know I was proud to get it done and half way down saying, "you can do this, just keep charging and stay forward" in my head.

Hey, I am only an intermediate skier at best and felt pretty good about Sat. Tooting my horn yes, but so what. I had a blast and can't wait for more!!

It was mostly your expression and the sound of your voice. Your actual words were probably a variation of the basic "Holy !*@&*"

But your enthusiasm made the same old run I've done a dozen times in the past week or so a lot more fun!

Heh - we also witnessed some classic overstoke under the Wildcat lift on Saturday. As this one guy was skiing he kept yelling "Holy Shit, I can't believe this snow, This is incredible...." and his one of his friends yelled back "WE GET IT!" Heh.
