I'm far from being a ripper. At the camp I went to we had 3 groups, which meant the relativity of my gaperness was much smaller.

I'd be interested in the February dates - either the non-maggot camp or a possible all-maggot camp.

Then you should ask him to do one in California.....

No, I think just this once I'm going to be good and follow my doctor's recommendations about when to resume which activities.

Next year though. Str8line can count me in.

[QUOTE=Big E]Honestly, you need to open your mind a bit. I have no idea how well you ski. I'm guessing a lot better than me. But when have guys like str8line that obviously have the physical skills and (based on feedback from last year's camps) also have the teaching skills to impart that knowledge, pretty much anyone short of the coaches themselves are going to learn a lot, skiing-wise.

Yes, I totally agree but will the benifit out weigh the $400. I am sure I can learn a lot but I could also spend the $400 on more skiing time and learn a lot.

I'm interested to know how much you will learn just by skiing.
I ski because it releases my mind from the tyranny of petty things.

I'd love to try one of these camps, the Alta/Bird ones look ideal for me, but unfortunately the cash situation is saying not til next year at the earliest. Ever thought about doing a W/B camp?

Or, you could spend it at the Moonlight Bunny Ranch on your way from Sacto to Utah for Gordy's camp and learn a whole lot.

I'm attending the 2/10 camp in any event.
The 2/10 date already has a lot of registrants. I'm willing to offer Maggot's a Maggot price on that camp if they are going to be in town for the Mini, then have the later Feb date(24, 25,26) as the Maggot camp.

It seems like the Feb. 24, 25, 26 date is the one that is garnering the most interest, no?

I may be interested in the Utah Mini camp dates. I'll have to see if I have the money by then.

    Mother of God.

    That's an unfortunate coincidence.

    Next year, perhaps.

O.K., so say I were to add the Feb. 24, 25, 26 camp to the schedule as a Maggots only camp, who would be interested in attending that camp as opposed to any of the other dates(keeping in mind you get the Maggot rate for any date)?

I need to get a solid idea of the interest before going much further into the planning stages.

Arrrgh. where is the Aspen Hole camp? Have you not been able to work out a deal with those tightwad chicken fuckers?

I will be in JH in January, prolly later in the month and would move that date around to coincide with str8line madness.

I might be able to do a Utard camp, provided I can get cheap airfare and almost free lodging and the blessing of my wife. I would probably have to cash in the chit that I was saving for the JH closing last tram day, but it may be worth it.

So, in summation, 1) would love to see JH sometime in late Jan early Feb, or else 2) once you establish what the maggoty utard date seems to be I will check airfare, etc.

There is still a chance to have more than half of the Feb. 10 camp as Maggots. Also, since the Maggots are the Traciest skiers of all time they would be ensured of snaring all of the spots in the top group or two during the camp thus making it kind of a Maggot-mini camp within the normal camp. And actually the level is pretty damn high for normal camp registrants anyways(we screen them) so it's not like it would be hanging with inferior skiers. But they might have a tough time keeping up with the wicked wit and biting banter of the Great Cornholio ...you should consider it a mission to convert more maggots.

I'm just a curious telewhacker but: how do you screen people out?

I tried to pull off the Jackson camp. It's just not feasible. They want me to hire 3 guides for the three day camp for $500 each. That's $4500.

A major component of Straightline Adventure's camps is getting to ski and hang with the skiers you see in the flicks and getting one on one coaching from them. We're not going to change the formula of the camp and can't afford the $4500 on top of paying the regular coaches so unfortunately, Jackson=no go.

Any thoughts on an EC camp? Say Jay Peak?

Maybe get the Egans to throw down or what not.

    Two words: Scare tactics.

I just reinforce the fact that it is a Big Mtn camp and that we ski the WHOLE mountain. I tell them we ski a lot and that it is a tiring three days, especially when you factor in all of the apres activities. Out of 75 people last year there were only about 4 people who might have outgunned themselves, but they sacked it up and did o.k. without bringing anyone down.
