    Straightline Adventures Maggot Camp

This post is see if there is interest in a Straightline Adventures Maggot Camp this year.

This camp would be open to any and all Maggots that consider themselves advanced or better skiers. We ski a lot during these three day camps and hit all open terrain at Alta/Snowbird.

If you're new to this forum or not familiar with SA camps go to my Website, www.straightlineadventures.com or do a search here about last year's camps.

Last year there were two camps comprised of Maggots and it was cool how the relationships mostly cultivated on this board leant to the vibe of the camps. Also, the uniformly high level of skiers at the Maggot Camps made them really fun from a coaching/ripping standpoint.

Of course, since you are a Maggot you would get a hefty discount off of the normal price for the camp just because you are a part of this community(a community that has been instrumental in the formation of and ongoing viability of Straightline Adventures).

    So...

As of right now I have three public camps scheduled at Snowbird and one at Alta. Each camp will ski both resorts.

    The dates are:

    December 16,17,18(Snowbird)

    January 6,7,8(Snowbird)

    January 20,21,22(Snowbird)

    February 10,11,12(Alta)

If there is enough interest from the Maggots I could schedule a "Maggots only camp" on different dates than above, or we could go with one of the dates above depending on demand and availability(some of the above dates might work while some are fairly full).

The dates that I could schedule a "Maggot's only" camp if demand is high enough are:

    December 30, 31, Jan. 1st

    January 13, 14, 15

    February 24, 25, 26

The Maggot price for this camp would be same as last year, $375.00. The normal camp price this year is $599, up from last years $525.00.

The coaches would be whoever we want(based on your input) from the coaches listed on my Website(as long as they're available).

If you're interested please post your preferred date and we'll go from there.

Ooooh, definitely interested. I think I can go on any of the Jan- Feb dates, and maybe the New Year's dates. I'd prefer the Jan-Feb dates though.

I'd be interested. I'm thinking that the last set of February dates might be best for me, but I'd probably be able to do most of them.

The Jan or Feb dates would work best. I'd probably lean towards the Feb date if I had to choose. I'm still kicking myself for missing out on this last year, so count me in for this year.

Maybe, what would you teach a skier that has been skiing their whole life? I know I can get better but it seems that can take place with more snow time for less money.

Is the $375 exclusive of lift tix? I am in town for the 12/16, 12/30 and 2/24 dates.

Probably can't make it down for any of those dates, No time off from school.
Would it be possible to get a Maggot price for a regular camp?

Honestly, you need to open your mind a bit. I have no idea how well you ski. I'm guessing a lot better than me. But when have guys like str8line that obviously have the physical skills and (based on feedback from last year's camps) also have the teaching skills to impart that knowledge, pretty much anyone short of the coaches themselves are going to learn a lot, skiing-wise.

I would definitely be interested, but have to figure out my schedule. It also goes against my new credo of not planning in advance and just going where it snows. I could make an exception here, though. Gordy, on that note, any problems with someone reserving a spot and then if either the schedule or the snow don't work out passing it along to another mag?

    Gordy...

I've got an idea....how bout the 2/10-12 camp which co-incides w/ the Utah mini becomes a maggot camp?

I'm attending the 2/10 camp in any event.

I'm guessing that I wouldn't get permission from my doctor....

Man, I wish I had to skills to it. When I read those TRs and look at the photos from last year's camps, I get mighty envious.
I ski because it releases my mind from the tyranny of petty things.

    That would be fine.

Depending on the situation I gave a few people their deposits back last year(injuries, etc.) but I don't want to make it a policy or I could get screwed. I just try to put myself in that persons position and act accordingly.

For example, if as the camp approached you suddenly couldn't make it I'd do my best to help out(credit for another camp, refund, etc.)

The only problem is when a camp is sold out or I've added an extra coach based on one or two extra people at a camp. Even then I'm always open to a fair solution.

Any chance of you coming up to Jackson for a camp this year?

I want to be able to enjoy your camp with a higher caliber level of skiers than the utards can provide.
