    Placerville area mags?

    Anyone live near Placerville, CA?

There are some skis I'm thinking of bidding on on ebay, but seller has a flat rate shipping cost that's a little too high just to ship them from Placerville up to Reno. Anyone live near Placerville who'd be willing to bring some skis up to Tahoe with them whenever they get up in that direction?

I will be going that way, but not until January. If you can wait that long I would be happy to do it.
(a little off the beaten track, but I don't mind the drive)

    El Chupa...

I live about 30 minutes from Placerville. I'm planning on being up at Kirkwood this weekend, but wasn't planning on detouring through South Lake or anything. But maybe we can work something out?

hit me up at ron at pmgearusa dot com to talk turkey

Alioops -- if you're in P-ville for any length of time in Jan, drop a line if you ever want to grab a beer or something.

I definitely will. I would like to meet as many maggots as possible on this trip.

    Alioops - Cool.

El Chalupa -- Saw in another thread that you were thinking of heading to KW Sat. If you are, I'm sure we could easily arrange a ski dropoff.

Thanks Tyrone -- the skis I'm looking at are in a suburb of Placerville, west on Hwy 50 just a little bit. The auction won't be over by this weekend though, so a Kirkwood dropoff this weekend won't work.

But, if I can win the skis, would you mind picking them up & holding on to them? I can get them from you some time later at Kirkwood, or wherever around Tahoe.

If none of this works out, I'll be heading through Placerville to South Lake the following weekend.

Cool....west of Hwy 50 sounds like its even closer to me than the bustling metropolis that is Placerville proper.

And yup, I can hold them for you for sure. I'll be up at Kirkwood for the next two weekends at least...but then it looks like I head East for X-mas for a little while.

Any thoughts on Placerville? Potential job opp in the area for next year, I've always thought the Auburn area was sweet but never been through Placerville.

I grew up in that there P-ville town.

It's a bedroom community to Sacramento. A nice quiet place to live - not exactly hopping with night life. Camino is really nice - above the fog and brutal heat, but below the snow. If you like rivers you'll like the area - South Fork of the American is great if you avoid the tourons. 45 minutes to Sierra at Tahoe and 1 hour to South Lake Taco. Definitely some rednecks, hillbillies and methheads. But lots of cool folks still living there too.

Lots of little hill towns right around there (e.g. Rescue), if you enjoy shooting guns in your backyard and seeing wild turkeys on your porch.

Placerville itself isn't anything interesting. Nothing wrong with it -- it's just small, even compared to Auburn, because it's so much a bedroom community for Sacramento.

Fantastic climbing (Sugarloaf, Phantom Spires, Lovers Leap), skiing (Sierra, Heavenly, Desolation BC), paddling (SF American), jeeping, quiet town, growing area.
