    Trigger Pulled...a little Utarded help?

Just pulled the trigger on airline tickets to SLC...I arrive on the 15th of December and leave on the 19th. I am super stoked...two...maybe three days of skiing, a good concert, great friends are coming...feels like an early Christmas to me.

I might need a little bit of help from the Utah crew to make this trip everything it could be...first and formost...I wanna ski with some of you. Our plan at the moment is to ski Alta on Friday, and we are open to suggestions for the balance of the weekend. Here is where I need help...I will be stuck at the Ramada downtown without a car. I'm hoping (praying actually) that some kind soul, or souls, would be willing to play ski area tour guide / chauffer for my buddy Jeremy and I. Any takers? Beers, and whatever else you might like (hookers, blow, crack, a reach-around?), are on us.

    Who's in?
I went out there in search of experience. To taste, and to touch, and to feel as much as a man can, before he repents.

After all my good advice you ended up @ the Ramada? you are 1/2 a mile from the delta center and the only nearby food and drink is Brewvies ( highly recomended btw)
low price does not equal value.
any hoo, i would be happy to shuttle you 2 up to Solitude on Saturday as i will be working and live near there. I should be able to get out a bit with you but no promises there. I could hand you off to yeti man who is a great tour guide.
I will see what other transport info I can gather, but you are well off trax and I am not sure about the bus line....

I will be up in LCC the 17th through the 20th. As of right now I will be at Snowbird all 4 days but that could change. GF set up with the trip with her family friends so I am relying on them for transportation and a place to stay, which is somewhere outside of SLC but close to the canyon entrance? Once the trip gets closer I wouldn't mind setting up a day to ski with some mags, perhaps even a day at Alta? (they all board)

BTW, my bed is starting to smell like tots. Fat chicks will be all over me!!

an older, bigger, scarier Napolean Dynamite you are YM....

and Canuk man, there are public buses that leave from the Red Lion just up the street and go up both canyons.
there is also trax, but the closest stop is a ways from your hotel.
there is a Lewis Brothers ski shuttle, but I cant find a schedule.
    good luck

Hard to say right now, but I can probably make it up to Alta that Friday and tour you around, but the ride thing could be difficult since I'm coming from the South. Why don't you guys just rent a cheapie car for the five days?

My mistake...we are at the Raddison...apparently we are right across from the Delta Center.

CS...we are renting a cheapie car, but the wifes will most likely be stealing it to go shopping or some other silly activity.

I appreciate all the help so far...hookers and blow are on me

Canuk, you and your wife are right in DT. Getting to shopping is about a 2 block walk to the Gateway. That should keep her occupied for a good day.

Buzz is right. Easier for the women to get around town shopping w/ no car than for you to get to the slopes w/ out one.

    ok
thats what I thought we talked about.
that is right on trax line; so out your front door on the train to 7200 south stop; bus right to alta/bird or transfer to Solitude/Brighton at the mouth. transport is included in the discounted Salt Lake Super Pass you can buy at the front desk of the hotel
offer still stands for shuttle to Soli on Saturday, which is the best day to ski solli because of the crowds elsewhere.
trax is free throughout downtowne, and gateway and the delta center are right next to you.

I will be there the same dates. Staying up at the Peruvian, and skiing Alta. Look forward to some turns with you.

This doesn't sound like a bad idea...how long does taking transit to the hill take, anyhow? No one'd going to try and give me tracts while I ride the train with my skis, are they?

If you feel like skiing The Canyons that weekend, let me know. I think that I will be in town; however, I'm sure that I will only have time to ski in the AM and early PM

I'm not the one who passed up great tickets to the show....

Anyone else have good advice for a semi-retarded Canadian? I need all the help I can get.

I'll almost definitely be skiing Alta on the 17th and 18th. If you want to ski Alta either of those days, and want to avoid the public transportation hassle, I'd be willing to come scoop you up.

If you do opt for UTA, I recommend getting an early start. It takes a while to get up to the resorts after the transfer and stops.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

TRAX takes about 25 minutes from downtown to 7200 South.

On a weekday, the bus can take 1+ hour to get up to Alta/Bird, but shorter on the weekend.

I highly recommend letting the wives walk around downtown and taking the vehicle up-canyon

Talking to the GF about what day I should hit up Alta (she rides so she will be staying at the 'bird). Might try it on the 18th if some other maggots are going to be around.

liquor store is on 400 south and 200 west, 3 blocks from your hotel.
Molson there is same strength ( and price unfortunately) as Canuck land.

if the wives are looking for more activities whiile y'all ski, family history library is also 2 blocks from your hotel up south temple street. it can be interesting.

if you want to watch hockey; Lumpys and Pool Hall junkies both have big screens and the hockey package.

ther are no Tim Hortons here, notyhing even close. in fact there is not a decent donut in Utah.

any restruant inquiries I am happy to address.
I live a short walk from your hotel, so know the area well.

if you wander into the Salt Palace convention center connectted to yyour hotel and see a bald grinnng mexican, run and hide your wives.......
