I'm looking for a short ski I can take out and billygoat on those firm days in between dumps.
It should be short (<= 170) to get around ice moguls.
It should hold a solid edge and be stable at speed.
It shouldn't have too much sidecut (> 18m). No new-school race slaloms.
It should be snappy. I don't like the dead Rossi feel.
It should be really cheap. Used older skis are fine, so long as the edges are in good shape.
I used to own Volkl Supersports in a 168 and they were a blast, but their turn radius was so tight (< 15m) that high speeds were seriously hazardous. I ended up selling them.
Candidates include short Snow Rangers and the G40/41/G4 family. Cross Rangers/G30/G31 are in play, but I'd prefer wider. Anything up to 90mm is possible. I'm open to suggestions...let me know what you've got.
Tahoe locals encouraged since I can pick up and save shipping. Open to partial trades for my 180 Powder Pluses.
