    Grand Targhee yesterday.

Sad, never been there were there were so many brown patches. Really had to watch were you were going and the small 2" rocks were scattered in the good snow. Hopefully the 4" they got last night and the snow we are getting now will fill it in.

you should go again asap, its amazing what a difference 36 hours can make.
if you didnt check, the snow phone reported 23" in 24 this morning. It was a feeding frenzy. Its still coming down, but pretty lightly, 3' since 5am. tomorrow should be good and a completly different world than the one you visited.

don't forget who yer dealing with... Grand Targhee Marketing. One of the most predatory of all marketing sub species. I remember getting up one morning last season because they said that there was eight inches fresh. We hadn't had much snow for a while so I figured six inches sounded like heaven. i fought the usual high pressure hangover to get out of bed and when I got to my car in downtown alta wyoming (right by targhee) there was nothing on it. Strange. I guess the ghee cloud was extra selfish. Wrong. There was not a spec well maybe a spec but that's it anywherer. i skied with my pal who works with them and he said it all blew around. bullshit. they just wanted to up the yearly tally from its miserable truth to at least a respectable number so that they could say that it was just one year that "lowered the average TO five hundred inches a year" when in fact they did it not just all of last season and all the seasons before that but haven't actually hit five hundred inches in many years and now must rely on some embellished hallucination of consistent deep snow. Don't get me wrong... i love this place, and think that there is none better. It's the lies, the lies. This place once did get all that snow and the grand cycle will shift again and it will get its fair share again, but in an industry where common ethics dictate that you put a fair ten year average annual snowfall in your marketing features we rely on the honesty in snowfall reporters to help us make our decisions. I think anyone who takes advantage of hungover depressed snowloving bohemians or overworked single websurfing soccer moms from texas deserve a swift castration, although only one of those two breeds will even CARE about how much snow fell anyway... (sorry for the rant but you hit a little button there buddy)

Obviously, you were not there the other day, but you're point is well taken. Its the ski industry, all resorts lie.

I never stopped to actually measure the pow exploding into my face - but I do know it was deep. Considering the conditions the day before and the time of the year - I was absolutly blown away.

Aside from an accounting/finance department that is a bit suspect - Targhee fully kicks ass.

I just remember seeing 89" mid mountain on thanksgiving and then getting there. Bummer... Snow report says 117 mid today, hopefully they are getting a bit more as we are getting dusted here (SE Idaho).

    Well, FWIW...

Targhee was apparently off the hook today. One comment from a friend of mine who is a professional exum instructor was "if there had been any more snow, it would have been too much".
16 was reported, but between 16-28 was actually up there.
I will let you know tomorrow.

it hasnt quit snowing up here since Sat. Not always heavy, but it keeps coming. wind came out last night and smoothed out the trenches. Fun stuff.
The accounting dept is definatly suspect, but what do you expect when you put the office 50 yards from the lift?
Rideit, is Christian your buddy? If so, good friend and neighbor of mine.

Parents pf McGovern Elementary School students in Medway, Mass., complained to the Boston Herald in October because Paul Trufant's septic-sewage service, located across from the school, boasts the identifying slogan on all its trucks: "Shit Happens." Trufant said he would advertise however he wants to: "This is America, not Iraq." [Boston Herald, 10-5-05]
