    Busted frame = shopping time

I was JRA and heard some odd noise from my frame. It was a hollow creaking sound. Glance down at the down tube and see a nice silver line on the matte black paint. Hmmm this can't be good, better stop for a closer inspection. At the upper weld of the pivot is a crack going about half way around the down tube. Frame = toasted.

The frame was bought off JensonUSA as a blow out discount tear down last spring. Don't think it qualifies for warrante. It was picked up soo cheap that I am not going to bother even trying.

So now I am on the hunt for a replacement. Does anyone make a Heckler knock off? A cheap 5 inches of rear travel single pivot mid to light weight trail bike is what I am looking for. I know Weyless used to make one, but not sure if there is still any companies doing a similar frame. I hope to add a Cove PeelerFR to the bike quiver for DH/FR in the spring, so this bike will be long trail ride rig. Any suggestions?

Pic of the KHS on it's maiden ride in Pisgah.

Ironhorse MKIII? Kinda similar, internet distributed- therefore cheap. Should be some closeouts here and there as well.

If you want more burl, Supergo still has the 67 Freeride frame for $219. I'm pretty sure you won't crack it.

No shock, though, and I don't think the air shock from your KHS is long enough.

I've got an Aeon (Ellsworth) Isis frame that I'd sell you. Or the whole bike for something like $700. It's got 4" of plush travel and two rear shocks, a vanilla and float with lockout. I've got 2 extra derrailer nagers to go with it too.
