People should learn endurance; they should learn to endure the discomforts of heat and cold, hunger and thirst; they should learn to be patient when receiving abuse and scorn; for it is the practice of endurance that quenches the fire of worldly passions which is burning up their bodies.

Third week no coffee with my sugar. Headaches are gone.

Anyone else have a Guess Who song running through thier brain? They're Canadian so most of yous prolly never heard of them.

    Lonely feelin' deep inside
Find a corner where I can hide
    Silent footsteps crowdin' me
Sudden darkness, but I can see

No sugar tonight in my coffee
No sugar tonight in my tea
No sugar to stand beside me
No sugar to run with me

    Da-un-do-dow dow da-un-do-dow
    Da-un-do-dow dow no no
    Da-un-do-dow dow da-un-do-dow
    Da-un-do-dow dow

In the silence of her mind
Quiet movements, well, I can find
Grabbin' for me with her eyes
Now I'm fallin' from her skies

No sugar tonight in my coffee
No sugar tonight in my tea
No sugar to stand beside me
No sugar to run with me

    Da-un-do-dow dow da-un-do-dow
    Da-un-do-dow dow un-dow-dow
    Da-un-do-dow dow da-un-do-dow
    Da-un-do-dow dow

Jocko says yes and I believe him
When we talk about the things I say
She hasn't got the faith or the guts to leave him
When they're standin' in each other's way
You're driven back now to places you've been to
You're wonderin' what you're gonna find
You know you've been wrong but it won't be long
Before you leave 'em all far behind

'Cause it's the new Mother Nature takin' over
It's the new splendid lady come to call
It's the new Mother Nature takin' over
    She's gettin' us all
    She's gettin' us all

Jocko said no when I came back last time
    It's lookin' like I lost a friend
No use callin' 'cause the sky is fallin'
And I'm gettin' pretty near the end
    A smoke-filled room in a corner basement
    The situation must be right
    A bag o' goodies and a bottle o' wine
We're gonna get it on right tonight

'Cause it's the new Mother Nature takin' over
It's the new splendid lady come to call
It's the new Mother Nature takin' over
    She's gettin' us all
    She's gettin' us all

The real question is not how you take your coffee but how you take your sugar. I like mine down on all four.

Funny that song is playing right now on Sirius 14 Classic Vinyl.

I gave up sugar in my joe last year - and the headaches and cold shaked went away. Sugar plus a large cup of Peets=crack in a cup (which is okay, but coming down was a bitch)

When I looked at the thread name all I could think was The Guess Who and I also vote with Beav on the second question.

Putting sugar in coffee is tantamount to putting sugar in beer. 'nuff said.

Once you go black, you won't go back.

    The poll seems to agree.

But they’ll put us in jail if we kill all the telemarkers

I have never understood coffee. Why would I want burnt, bitter dirt in my water anyway? If I put enough crap in it to choke it down I might as well just drink hot chocolate.

It's only advantage is that it is virtually free and warm.

I never understood hot choclate. Why would I want sweet drippy dirt in my water anyways? and what's up with marshmallows? they're nothign but sugar and air.

I might as well drink coffee. It has no calories, keeps you alert and is actually good for your health in moderation.

99% of the time I drink my coffee black, but every now and then I enjoy a doppio machiato at Caffe d'Arte in Seattle. They give you a yummy chocolate, too.

I wasn't actually advocating hot chocolate, just making the point that putting cream and sugar in coffee makes it pretty much the same.
