Looking for Wheeler Pk. NV Beta

Has anyone been up or around Wheeler Peak, NV in the winter? Does anyone know what kind of snow has fallen in the area so far this year, or if there are any observation stations I can check? I would have run a TGR search but I'm at the parents house for T-Day and well, dial up dial up dial up....
    Thanks!

There is/was a thread on this here last year, so when you get to a faster connection, search on it.

But also look at Telemark Tips, there were several threads w/ pics on Wheeler Peak.

I've only hiked it in summer.

Trackhead and Xover were there last May or June, skied a couple nice couloirs. That area did well along w/ the rest of the SW due to all the tropical moisture last year. My guess is it's pretty dry there now, but IDK.

Damn you. Maybe you remember it as the place of the murder of the once-oldest living thing on earth, a 5,100 year-old bristlecone pine.

What were the avalanche conditions like when you were (or were not) there?

We had a fairly miserable year this year snow-wise. The skiing was reasonable a couple of months ago... I'll check with a friend of mine (dhm over on Telemark Tips) to see what he knows about current conditions. My guess is no-go at this point, just based on what I see from the "turns all year" couloirs here in the Rubies, which tend to run similarly.

    This from Dan:

"I have not gotten a good look for a while. I would guess there are steep sunpocked lines in the cirque, but that's about it. I would recommend the Tetons. "

Sorry, wish it were better news but we had a miserable winter and have been absolutely hammered temperature-wise for the last month.
