    Dear Powder Magazine,

I thought you'd forgotten all about me, and to be honest, I was ok with it. I thought I could go a season without the stoke in my mailbox. I though it might make this winter pass by faster. I passed you by in your sleek new condom time and time again at Border's, smirking to myself about how lame it was that you'd f'd my subscription up how I was glad to be off your rollercoaster ride. Glad to not be dissapointed at the empty mailbox ever again. Glad to not have to feel your scrawny post Jesus's rumored birthday issues, so thin they're only good for #1 bathroom duty. I was over you.

But alas! Low and behold what doth grace my delivery yesterday? Could it be? Is it a sick joke? Yeah, that's right you stupid fucktards the first issue to arrive this year is the December issue wrapped in a special blanket of Final Issue, special 2 for 1 renewal dreck. THIS is why I was over you! This is why I am pained to see just how beautiful your remodeling project turned out. POWDER is finally the mag it should have been, only I have no desire to play these childish games anymore. You are the only thing that always fails to arrive. It's uncanny. You should hire SBC to do your mailings cuz thier shit always shows up on time. I mean hell, even the Restoration Hardware catalog gets here every month and I've never spent a dime with them. I actually pay you money for your special pages and yet....nothing.

    So long Powder.

    ditto here.
got the dec issue with the THIS IS YOUR LAST ISSUE!!!!!cover card.
absolutely amazing, considering i kept a copy of the previous mail-in card that i sent in LAST YEAR that supposedly renewed my subscription for 2-years as well.

    fucking monkeys.

so if I send this one in, will I be rewarded with another 3.5-years of periodical blue-balls?

cue KD coming on and giving the contact info again
to restate what he has said 12 0r 15 times:
I hear about sub problems on this board, and others, every month. But when I go to bat for you, this is the type of response I get:

"We've been watching customer service pretty carefully and here's what I can tell you.
Every time we did a search on a real problem it turned out that the person moved, sometimes more than once, and really took their time notifying us. Change of address and missed issues are the two largest complaint categories for Powder (the third largest is general customer inquiry) and these three together move hand-in-hand.
The post office does not forward second class mail. If subscribers wait to tell us they moved or more likely don't even realize they have to tell us there is nothing we can do about it. As you can see from the monthly report, we do re-send copies to those with legitimate complaints.
Sadly the people on these message boards are very quick to blame and very slow to take responsibility.
In total complaints in 2005, we've reduced the average from 1.10% to 0.80% - a huge drop.
Please know that we take this very seriously but we can only do our part; there is a part that is up to the subscriber."

I, more than anyone, want to see you guys get your magazines on time. But you need to help me help you. So please, if you are not getting your subscription, take up the issue here:

    powder@palmcoastd.com; 800-289-8983

Otherwise they think there is nothing wrong, and when I complain, I just look like a jerk.

Thanks mags, and thanks for the props!
and December Powder was the best I remember in a long long long time.
I loved it from the minute i picked it up from the weight and the cover shot.

Loved it more for only one UT pic in it ( Brighton BC)

Loved it more for some Jane Sommerville props.

dug porter's article, enoyed the one page stories, and liked that my Inn was in it 2x!

I know what KD has said over and over. My point and I think Barnballs' as well, is that we are getting the magazine sent to the correct address but they keep asking us to renew our subscription when we already have renewed and let them know about change of address.

Even if your sub DOES end in 2 issues, that obnoxious cover card has to go.

KD does but he cannot affect their practices w/o input to them from you

Weird thing is, Powder deliveries have been flawless so far this season for me. Usually a total fustercluck but I seem to be getting them ahead of most of you US geezers.

gee Woodie, well said. I mean, who would have thought about contacting them in 1st place without you pointing it out?

dec was quite impressive, and that just adds to the on going frustration regarding Powders distributioin problems.

"sorry for the inconvenience Mr. Balls, we'll get you October's issue sent out immediately, and straighten out your subscription asap."

that was once I realized everyone had rec'd the gear guide issue and before I had to purchase the last issue at the airport newsstand.

Im sure the Dec covers great, but I cant see it through the damn give a gift sub get a year free ad for 15.97, isnt a year only like 10.97?
My September and October arrived in a timely fashion, then like nothing for 6 weeks and november shows up first week of november and then December like a week later, WTF?

KD personally mailed me a copy of September after I emailed him that due to my own fault I renewed late and wasnt going to get a copy (and then did), so that was cool. But whats with the unreliable delivery by the distributer, I havent changed address or anything, and saw people at my post office pulling out november issues back in October like three weeks before mine showed.

Yeah, the last two issues were particularly well done.

I must be lucky because I've had four addresses in recent history and I've never missed an issue...

    Post

Just moved Powder subcriber here. When I spoke to them in the last two weeks they said it takes two cycles to get the change of address going thur their system. (seems like they should be at one cycle, but oh well).

HOWEVER, I have been recieving my sub without problem.

    Wanna know a great trick?

Go to the post office as soon as you know your new addy and set up a "forwarding service" through the USPS. Someone said they won't forward 2nd class mail, well, they will if YOU set it up. Takes about a week longer to get the mag but it still arrives.

    Yes, it is that easy.
