    1000 Posts (NQSR)

I'm kinda dissapointed I'm already at 1000 posts, it's quite evident my contribution to post ratio is pretty low. I figure, why start now? ...so I'm going to post some NSR material. This community has kept me passionate about skiing when I'm not out on the hill, so I'm going to post about a weekend I had that really fueled my passion, despite the fact that I wasn't out skiing.

It started out with some mountain biking at Bruce and Tom's Excellent Adventure in Gloucester, Mass (I just wanted to say the name of the spot). It was a fun day out with friends, and it was a holiday which was definitely better than being at work, but I realized there isn't any sport for me that compares to skiing.

Pretty big gap jump (that I didn't hit)

Saturday, I wanted to hike, but get back in time to watch Tangerine Dream. I hit Chocorua, a moderate sized mountain, that's easy to get to. The day was perfect. When I reached the ridgeline, the cool (but not cold) breeze, the mountains, the snow (albeit a small amount), and the sun all reminded me of the first perfect spring skiing day of the season. After a powder day I think that perfect spring day is the next best thing. I had flashbacks of warm, sunny days at Sugarloaf, Mammoth, and Jackson. At that moment in time, everything was peachy.

I got back in time to catch Tangerine Dream, which I was extremely impressed with. After seeing the Hit List, which had a lot of mediocre skiing (Hugo being the exception), I was thrilled to see Chris Collins, Will Burks, Micah Black, and many others just tearing it up. From a pure skiing standpoint, the skiers on TGR's roster are leaps and bounds better. The two that really stuck out though, of course, were the two Jeremy's. I think it was the best work for the both of them in a few years. I was completely blown away. As if I wasn't ready enough for the season to begin, I just couldn't wait by the time the movie was over.

    Is this up at Sugarloaf?

Because it has an uncanny resemblance to the ridge trail at Sunday River that ascends to Whitecap Peak. Got a chance to mtn bike their sick trails a few years ago while at a wedding out East. Unexpected slick rock, great terrain. Too bad they don't operate the bike park anymore.

That's on part of Mt Chocorua in the White Mountains in New Hampshire. Sunday River did supposedly have some sweet riding; didn't get there myself. Sugarloaf never had lift serviced riding.

You can find a decent amount of "slick rock" granite in New England, particularly near the coast. The place in Gloucester I was at, had a ton of it.

Cool thread, sounds like a good weekend. I haven't been up Chocorua in years, glad to see how pretty everythig still is as far as the eye can see.

Please tell me that ain't Schuss or your ass in the picture (it looks a little feminine).

Looked like it was a great day and place for a hike. What's the name of the snowy peak in the photo(is it mt. washington)?

That is Schuss's ass. Kidding. It belongs to a friend of mine, who I'm sure would kill me if she know I posted it.

The snowcapped peak in the pic is Washington. She's still looking great for this time of the year.
