    Sign up to SUFFER!

Anyone want to sign up to suffer miserably for 24 hours? It will be fun in a sick and twisted kind of way.

I just plunked the cash down for the 'solo', smash your toes with a hammer category.

So far it's all solo teams. And based on the competition, I will be dead last.

Skins for your feet, cause the skin will be worn raw.

Some stiff competition I must say. Looks like a cool race. If I do it, think I'll enter in the "Just for Fun" category. Not a big fan of competition, and it's cheaper .

I entered under the 'Just For Torture' category.

What's sick is the top rando racers skinning to the top of Collins Lift in about 18 minutes for 1,800ft!!!!!!!

Yeah, most challenges I pursue in skiing are challenges against myself, not others. You're totally right. I guess I was just trying to say that I'm not a big fan of competing against others. I would do this to test myself and have fun pushing the limit with other like-minded individuals.

Trackhead...you are crazy, but the good kind of crazy.

Dan just told me he saw you at the Collins mid station...said Main Chute was good. He was going to go for a fairly mellow tour today. Turns out he did Main Chute, Little Chute and Punani's...see what you do to people?

Infectious. He looked like he might be going out for a good day.

Main chute is in nice shape right now. I've been down it three times in the past 48 hours. Nice, smooth neve. Perfect for the sissy sticks.

I gotta admit, in a sick and twisted kind of way that does sound like fun.

    So, I'm curious.
Nothing in the links indicates a sufferfest other than a person skis for 24 hours.
I mean, if ya just amble along, I don't really see any suffering is neccesary?

yes, main chute is the tits right now.

the race sounds like fun, I'm contemplating the purchase of a sissy-stick kind of setup so that I can enter such events. If only I hadn't bought more pow skis instead.

Any cheap racing gear(w/ three pairs of skins) around?

You may not suffer, but after about 15 hours, I will be.

Where you part of the 'shovel snow down onto the cat track' crew at Alta? That looked miserable.

Cool to see the 24hr Mtb race craze applied to skiing.

In 95 I did my second 24hr race solo. Pure sufferfest on the hottest day of the summer. Of the 15 guys attempting solo only 8 finished, several had to taken to the hospital for mild heat stroke. Your pit crew will be the most valuable asset. Sadly my pit crew on that day went and drank beer hitting on cute chicks.

I've done lots of 24-36 hour non stop events in the mountains (alpine routes). But never an organized event. I think lapping the same hill will be mentally challenging for that length of time.

Yeah it makes funny with your cranium. At about 4 am I started naming corners, talking out loud and generally loosing my marbles. I think there was an article in one of the mtb mags that did interviews with solo racers at differnt points over the night. There were some messed up answers to simple questions.

Good luck, it sould be a fun event. Sounds like you will have no problems with it.
