Does the s810 have the same hole pattern as a s900? I'm looking at some skis that have the s810 and would want to swap out the bindings for something with higher DIN.

Yes.

ROBOTS ARE EATING MY FACE.
Every Salomon back to the 747 has the same hole pattern, with the exception of ZZ plates and possibly the Poweraxe plate bindings. (Yes, even Propulse.)
Some of the race bindings (916, "Equipe" series) have a fifth screw in the center of the heelpiece, but the other four screws are the same hole pattern, and the fifth screw is optional.
Thanks, I thought so, but I wanted to make sure.
Speaking of the 747s, I saw a pair of 747 Equipes (6-14 DIN) on a pair of pencil skis at Goodwill last week, they were in such good shape, that they didn't even have any scratches on the AFDs. Should I go back and grab 'em? I know they're not indemnified, but dang, they're beautiful!
Just to clarify Spats post everything since the 747's the same. 747 and earlier = differnt pattern.
Move along nothing to see here.
OK, thanks for the clarity. I wondered at that too.Originally Posted by weibo

weibo is correct: 747 toepiece is the same hole pattern, but the heelpiece is different. I should have been clearer.
As far as I can tell, the 747 series has exactly the same release mechanism as the 997, and the Equipes are solid metal. I would personally call them equal or superior to any binding Salomon has made since then, including the 997 Equipe and the 916.
However, since they are not indemnified and no shop will touch them, you're on your own for mounting, maintenance, and popped ACL lawsuits. Nor will you find fat brakes.
Excellent, that's just the answer I was looking for. Thanks. Perhaps, since the toepiece is metal, and has the same holes as newer models, it might be a worthy swap for a plastic one and use a newer heel for wider brakes. I'm not the type to anyone anyway.Originally Posted by Spats
and just to add rental is differnt then retail.
i found the brakes were super easy to bend (i put a pair on some 115mm wist skis) but hte way the brakes are constructed sucks... 20year old plastic failed in the first 20 mins of use, so i will have to surgery the brakes back to gether. the toes are every bit as good, if not better than the current 916's toe. i will keep these toes, and put a 997 heel on there, i think.Originally Posted by Spats
Which part of the brakes failed? I have a set and want to know what to watch for.Originally Posted by marshalolson
Also, be careful with DIN settings. I can't tell exactly without a torque tester -- but estimating by hand, my 747 needs to be set about 2-3 numbers higher for the same release tension as an 850. Apparently springs do weaken with age.
the little plastic thing that conects the 2 metal arms of the brake broke. i plan to rig something up to keep 'em rocking.Originally Posted by Spats
i pre-released at 14 w/ extra f-press... so yeah, there a bit lower din IMVHO also.
