Want to stay in Tahoe for cheap?

Even though it kind of seems like I should cancel at this point I have a 2 bedroom condo at Embassy Vacation Resort right by the lake in South Tahoe on Ski Run Blvd from Dec. 4 - 11. The place sounds really nice. 2 bedroom, 2 bath, kitchen, living room, indoor/outdoor pool, hot tub, sauna etc. Anyway the point is if anyone is interested I would be happy to share it for helping out with the timeshare fees (say $150 for the week). Just PM me (ladies might get a discount). My friend that usually goes can't this time so this a solo trip for me as of right now. Or if anybody wants to just stop by and/or go hang out or meet up on the slopes (if they are open) that would be cool too. This will be my first time in Tahoe and I was really stoked on everything, but guess I will have to come back again when there is more snow. Our slopes here in NC are even opening now and we were way behind Tahoe last year.

Holy moly, $150 for the week. I gotta rethink that season pass. The Embassy is a premo property right in the middle of everything. OK, I live here, but you should definitely score some interest in this.

With the way things are going, you might want to postpone these dates.

If there is snow, Buy a season pass to Kirkwood and don't go to Heavenly. Good luck, I'll see you there if there is any snow

No not necessarily, but you can post one if you want. I am seriously just thinking it will be more fun if I am not by myself for a whole week. The condo is big enough that it can probably accomodate a few extra people. It would also be cool to have someone who has been there before to guide.

Yes your right maybe I should be asking more? You would easily pay way more than that per night for this place, but this is a timeshare that is paid for so it's just the fees that have to be paid (which are still not cheap).

Yeah I know, but 1) the plane tickets are bought 2) the condo is booked and cannot be changed at this point 3) I have one week of vacation left this year that has to be used before Dec. 15.

    Not looking good

    Mark,

It is not looking good for you. We are having a heat wave out here. It was 86 in Monterey Friday. Can't believe it is almost December and temps still almost in the 90's. While it is cold at night in Tahoe, low in truckee the other night was 8, it is also warming up to mid 50's during the day. Check out the Heavenly webcams during the day to get an idea of the snow at the top right now, http://www.skiheavenly.com/audio_visual/webcams/dipper/. Weather report thru next th/f is more of the same, highs of 76 down in the valley, and no storms on the horizon, until this High Level hanging over Ca leaves, all storms are tracking north of tahoe thru PNW and into N colorado. You might want to consider a day trip or two down to Mammoth while your here, not much better, but a bit more snow.

There is still plenty to do in Tahoe if no sking; some hikes, some fishing, bike riding.

I just got a letter from my "personal concierge" Ally. I have never stayed at a place like this. I was so stoked. It is to bad it won't be in epic snow conditions. I have another set trip to SLC at the end of January which will hopefully be good and an unplanned trip at the begining of March. I was going to to try and go to Big Sky and spend a day or 2 at Jackson, but I may just have to make another attempt at Tahoe then. So nobody really wants to go to Tahoe in a couple weeks huh? I know the conditions won't be great, but I think a few places will be open and at least it is something. I will hopefully get a few days on the hill here in NC to warm up before I go.

Any takers now that the weather is looking better? If not, what about meeting up for some turns sometime. I am flying in around noon on the 4th and leaving in the morning on the 11th. My original plans were to at least hit Kirkwood, Squaw, Alpine, and Heavenly but I am up for wherever it is good/anything.

People, this is a smokin' deal. You're getting a week at one of the nicest places in town for the same price as about 1/2 a week at the cheapest, rattiest motel in town. I'm talking about places that make you want to take a shower after you get out of the shower. Plus it's nuking here right now. If I didn't live here, I'd be all over this.

Maybe nobody is interested because I'm a jong? Or maybe they think I might be some scary crazy guy?
Well here is pic of me

not too scary I don't think, but I can't really prove I am sane I guess.
I am 24, snowboard (-1 point I know), and you would have your own room. I am stoked to be going somewhere other than here and riding , but thinking that a week of vacation by myself in a new place could be a little dull. And again if anybody just wants to stay a few days or meet up for some turns thats cool too.

Damn, this is really an incredible deal. Mark, even if you don't find any takers on the room, you shouldn't have to worry about riding alone, there are more than enough Tahoe mags to meet up with and show you around.

One last good bump. I am packing my bags to leave. If you see someone who looks like this anytime next week just yell. I don't see too many people in all black from head to the pack to toe so that will be me. I might even make a trip to Mammoth if it is looking good there. PM me if you decide you want to come by or meet up, and I will see if I can get to a PC.

I think I see the problem.

Still, somebody ought to take this dude up on this deal even though he is a snowboarder.

i asked my ma and she said she would put in money to her it´s a matter of money - i lived in the US maybe two years total - make sure you can afford that if you mean it - i feel totally ashamed about it. i should have NEVER said anything bad about americans !
thank you so much for such an offer - i doubt anything will come about, but if i could try to find Randy and see if he meant it with the mansion offer and if try to accept ! then i could really stay in tahoe ...

to invite anyone here to germany won´t make much sense i fear ... we have no skiing ... but dan mazur wanted to come over and ski with me and iceclimb and do a lecture but it failed .. you sure are welcome here if you are from the us and like to use it as a base for skiing the alps from my point of view see my house at http://bfliwa.funtigo.com at the bottom ot ar htpp://lambmiddleearth.funtigo.com at the bottom it is quite the coolest house i have seen in this region - i will ski with an austrian stuntman probably in lech soon - i also like to film and photograph it i am at bernhard franz wiesenstr 2b 63128 dietzenbach germany email nasilamb1@lycos.com or dr.s.franz@t-online.de my mas any europeans that would like to ski together or us people over here - gimme a shout if you like to link up maybe we can work something out !

i was quite shocked of such an offer and it took me hours to answer really !!!

I’d be willing to show you around a bit Monday morning if you plan on skiing Heavenly. Meet up for the first Tram (not to be confused with the Gondala in town) up at 9:00 am at the California Base lodge, look for Black helmet, yellow jacket, black pants, backpack, Atomic REX skis with Freerides. After a couple hours I’ll probably head off for some BC opportunities, but you’ll have a good lay of the land.

    Hey JA_Surf

I just got off the phone with Mark, He made it to his Condo, he's right @ the Marina on Ski Run Blvd. He is planning on meeting you Tommorow morning. He did not get his rental car today so hes kinda jamed up for transportation. He plans to catch the Ski shuttle in the AM to get there.

Mark does not have internet access @ his place so he won't see posts here. If any South Shore Mags wanna take pitty on him and show him around PM me and I'll pass along his number.

BTW Mt. Rose sucked again today, You know the usual. Ski season has started @ Tahoe!

Thanks ja surf for showing be around and thanks MTT for relaying the message. I will have to look through the pics and upload once I get home. I got a car yesterday so I am good to go wherever now. Went to Sierra today and was not going to tell anyone because it was sucking pretty bad, but then I found some steep areas through the trees with lots of deep snow pilled up on all the boulders. It has kind of too heavy to charge, but fun none the less. Snow Wed and Thurs? Kirkwood on what day?

If the weather pans out, hit it on Thursday. At least that's what I would do if I weren't loosely chained to this desk. I'll be at the Heav for a couple of hours that morning. You should definitely hit the Wood if we get snow though.
