Good luck with your new job. And to second Rev's comment...you should have moved here.

Awesome news Kate! Lemme know if you ever want a job that will let you live in Alaska, Tacoma, the alps, etc... pays more, allows plenty of travel, and you can retire in your 40s! I'd do my best to hook a sista up!

Like some previous post said, if you ever want to consider AK, lemme know. I still know many lawyers from the 4 years I practiced up there and tons of guys/gals that are very good friends of mine are scattered throughout private, federal, and state practice.

Congrats again! Looking forward to catching up when I get up there sometime this winter!

For a split second there I thought you were moving to Clark County, Nevada... aka Las Vegas... aka terrible place to live for skiing.

    Congrats!

Aaaaand, if you haven't done this already, I strongly recommmend the following: unlisted phone number & address -- you do NOT want the wack jobs you prosecute to come after you.

And you thought no one cared!! - CONGRATULATIONS ON A JOB WELL DONE!!

Getting started in any occupation sucks... so... welcome to the real world we're all happy for you...

FYI - Mt Hood Meadows is mighty nice too.... my guess - you'll ski there more than Crystal... even with the pass...

don't forget to bring a towel! sad to see ya go. but think of all the he'um members you could recruit.

on the bright side, i don't plan on going to vancuouver which means you won't be prosecuting me anytime soon. though, it would be on the bright side if i knew the prosecutor. so maybe i'll be heading towards vancouver this winter. oh yeah, that's way too far south for me to go skiing. which means we'll see you lots doing the weekend warrior thing. just make sure to head out north and a little east of your usual digs and enjoy king N's powder skiing experience.

hehe, i said the same damn thing.

congrats kid, i knew something would work out. so maybe it's not seattle, but portland is damn cool (dare i say more so than seattle even?) and there is snow to be had near and far. you'll have some coin to travel now too! give it a few years and i have a feeling you will be able to make the call where you want home to be.

so you got two weeks, what are you gonna do with yourself?

If this high pressure system fucks with things the way that they are claiming it might, then yes I am drinking. Or flying to the snow. If it snows, I am whipping out the credit card to enjoy my last few weeks of freedom and skiing my brains out.

Rev- PM me when the time nears that you are blessing the PNW with your presence. We shall ski.

Rev and Jimmy Page- I know I know...but in one year of practicing in WA, my license will be recognized in both OR and ID. THAT is when I make my move...maybe.

Thanks to everyone for your props. This was a hard decision to make in leaving Seattle...but I am NEVER far away.

BTW- how far of a drive is it from PDX to White Pass? I had heard it would take longer to get to WP than to Crystal.

I've heard that it's about 3-3.5 hours from PDX, but I've never been.

    Congrats! Enjoy prosecution Hell.

This may be a bit late, but I believe Whatcom County has a deputy prosecutor position open.

Congratulations!!!!! You have worked hard and deserve the fruits of your labor.

I have to admit that I am a little sad, but as long as you make it to Crystal now and then its cool... and of course you have to make it to our 2nd annual Bier Garten Party next Oct.

After growing up in Portland, my advice would be to start surfing. Along with wind/kitesurfing, its the only sport Portland has on Seattle.

Also, at least you'll now be living in a city that can actually get a mass transit system built.

I swear, there are pockets in Portland where face piercing and mass "body art" are sports.

Then again, atleast in Clark County the likelihood that MBS, BakerBoy, and Hop would show up in my courtroom (and not just to observe) is significantly lowered.

Congrats!!! Get plenty of trial experience. You'll have to be a bitch to do it but it will reward you when you apply for your next job and have 10-20 trials under your belt. The other people will be coming from firms and have 0 trials under their belt. I know Jim S. down there, used to work w/ him, he's a good guy, you should enjoy the office, he does a lot.

Your likelyhood of bumping into famous bad-girl Tanya Harding in court is pretty high, I'd imagine. She's always in trouble in Vancouver for beating up on her boyfriend, or something like that.

BTW, that was the biggest worry of the several people I knew there, that she would move into a trailer somewhere down the street from them, and their property values would go downhill fast.

Perhaps a new reality TV show?
