Like some previous post said, if you ever want to consider AK, lemme know. I still know many lawyers from the 4 years I practiced up there and tons of guys/gals that are very good friends of mine are scattered throughout private, federal, and state practice.

I applied for an entry level position as a Deputy Prosecutor for the Clark County Prosecutor's office and as of 12:30 this afternoon...THEY OFFERED ME A JOB!

For a split second there I thought you were moving to Clark County, Nevada... aka Las Vegas... aka terrible place to live for skiing.

If this high pressure system fucks with things the way that they are claiming it might, then yes I am drinking. Or flying to the snow. If it snows, I am whipping out the credit card to enjoy my last few weeks of freedom and skiing my brains out.

Congrats!!! Get plenty of trial experience. You'll have to be a bitch to do it but it will reward you when you apply for your next job and have 10-20 trials under your belt. The other people will be coming from firms and have 0 trials under their belt. I know Jim S. down there, used to work w/ him, he's a good guy, you should enjoy the office, he does a lot.

This office is alot smaller and so the rotations through District Court hell (petty theft, hit and runs...stupid resource wasting crimes) is quick. They have already speculated that given my experience in District Court, if a position opens in a felony unit I could be up there in as short as a few months. That could kick some ass and boost a resume at the same time.

Your likelyhood of bumping into famous bad-girl Tanya Harding in court is pretty high, I'd imagine. She's always in trouble in Vancouver for beating up on her boyfriend, or something like that.

BTW, that was the biggest worry of the several people I knew there, that she would move into a trailer somewhere down the street from them, and their property values would go downhill fast.
