Cool TR: Crystal Delivers yet again 11.13.2005

Still dazed and confused- fresh from our super sick saturday, we rallied the troops and made another mining claim to many a powder stashes in the royal washington monarchy known as Xtal.

Weary from a night fresh off the Evogear grand opening party (and a tired 4 hours of sleep), Red Bulls & Coffee flowed. It was a waking of the dead- that is, until we called the snow report! Another fresh layer on top of yesterday's sweet delicious powder delicacy and like a bolt of lightning, a surge of energy popped us back to life.

On Sunday it was the babe-a-licous B3 Girlski joining us, along with Zeedashbo (never thought powder could keep this guy away from the Hawks game), and Pulver Schwein making the long morning drive down from VAN to sample the goods.

This ought to wake people up

Silver Basin (cliff sequence from 11.12 TR just above the gunpowder

A rare Midget sighting in WA

BC putting the flow into the tributaries of the Niagras

Midget finds his happy place in the Snorting Elk Cellar

Too bad he's snoozing. Missed out on Pollard's Saturday steeze. Not to worry- we were there to help document the "bunny ears"

Crystal rolls out the welcome mat for PulverSchwein, who drove all the way down from Van today to pop his Crystal cherry

BC-Flow finds the Silver lining in Silver Basin (midget spotting again!)

Mrs. Rehabit likes to play with her boys (and not the seahawks this weekend)

The Three Little Bears (Pigs?) - (paging Dr. Highman for the correct name...)

So good to have the summer gear replaced by the winter gear once again

Rumor has it there was a Zeedashbo sighting. We'll have to investigate more. Starting to be like a bigfoot thing. he's there but nobody ever has proof.

Today we didn't stop so often for pics. Powder Bowl was hella fun, as were the Bear Pits (okay, so I was the only one that really liked them today). Got in my first tailspin of the year, complete with a nice drenching of heavy cascade snow down the neck. Snow was more typical WA today, but didn't matter. Fluffy pillow lines in the trees were ours for the taking. So was Southback- until the wind decided to crank things up in the afternoon. We decided it was beerOclock.

Ever see a Midget climb a tree? Nimble focker, eh? next time, don't forget your house keys in Utah!
    Midget Burglar!

Until next time folks. For now, the stoke torch has been passed on to CO. Go git manana! (and lock yer windows!!!)

I am getting so tired of posting stoke-filled responses for the PNW... Psyche!

    GIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT SUM!

By the way, my use of the word "psyche" is totally facetious or something.

Wow squirrel, looks like that little nap perked midget right up. That last shot is perfect. You guys were awesome with the hospitality showing me around. It was great meeting and skiing with you all. Super fun day and real glad I went. I knew Crystal would be an amazing mountain, been itching to hit it forever.

Caught a few nice shots from the day. After a fun first run pretty much right under the Rainier Chair, I headed over towards powder bowl and traversed high into the bear pits area. Unreal run down and through the trees with some dude yelling that he liked my bros as I flew by.

That led me to the Queen and up to chair 6 where the sweet pow laps and chances of meeting up with the Xtal crew seemed to both be maxed out.

After 5-6 quick laps on 6 Ullr whispered in my ear to stick around at the top of 6, enjoy the view, and maybe hookup with some PNW maggots. Two minutes later BC-flow's eyeing out the Bros and we were soon all off to Southback.

    Another midget sighting

    A tough days work

Thanks again everyone, love to do it up proper again real soon. And yeah some heavy Colorado stoke is due, get after it y'all.

Thank you guys so much for being supportive of our skiing. Ullr should look kindly upon the brotherhood and continue to reward us.

My camera got broke, so I can't take pics. I'm getting a lot of turns in though. So good here right now.

We know the feeling, so feel free to take as much vicarious as you'd like. I was living through the Utards all last season.

Once again - inspiring! Thanks for the stoke - I wish ppl in my office would pony up with some.

I was just up in our cafeteria talking to someone who spent Saturday at Snoqualmie. I was telling him how sweet it was at Crystal and he just kept putting it down with things like:

"Yeah well how much coverage did they have anyway?"
    and
"You must have been dodging exposed rocks everywhere"
    and
"I didn't want to waste my money on Crystal"

He went on to tell me how Crystal couldn't have had the coverage I said and how great it was at Snoqualmie (he was “bachin’ it this weekend and splurged). Oh yeah...he hit his hot tub later and thought to himself - "this is what it's all about."

You know...I'm all for what floats your boat but WTF? Why be so negative about my great day at Crystal?

I'm sure Summit West was so much better than the shitty condiitons we all endured at Crystal on Saturday

    There's no place like home.

Puget Sound ski area fealty is like choice of Church:

The Crystalist church was founded as a separate entity by John Wesley in 1744 in England. He had initially hoped to reawaken the Church of England to the demands of vital piety. Wesley's theology was a warm-hearted evangelicalism that stressed the experience of Crystal within the heart, man's capacity to accept Crystal's offer of redemption, and the need for a disciplined life. In his later years Wesley came to believe in the possibility of entire sanctification or holiness (a state of perfection) and taught that it should be the goal of every Crystalian. This latter doctrine has contributed to many of the divisions within Crystalism.

Bakerism is a skiing tradition committed to the main skiological insights of Martin Baker. It is numerically the third largest single skiing movement, with an estimated 82.6 million people belonging to the various congregations, bodies, and churches which call themselves Baker.
Baker's insights are generally held to have been a major foundation of the fat ski movement. The relationship between Bakerism and the fat ski tradition is, however, ambiguous: some Bakers consider Bakerism to be outside the fat ski tradition, while others see it as part of this tradition.

The aim of Alpentalist practice is to end the suffering of cyclic existence, samsara (Pāli, Sanskrit) melt-freeze, by awakening the practitioner to the realization of true reality, the achievement of liberation (nirvana). To achieve this, one should purify and train the mind and act according to the laws of karma, of cause and effect: perform positive actions, and positive results will follow, and vice versa.

The Bear Pits. Loads of fun Can't believe nobody in our group liked the far skier's right pillows! Even the top scraped off rocky section was fun to bounce through (not in pic)- wussies!

Wondering when 666 is going to bring back his smack talk skiing to WA. Our level of sarcasm is not quite the same.

We had a great run through there (okay, so I'm the only one that liked it!)- wanted to hit it again and everyone looked at me with the "huh? why?" looks.

But poop or not, you're stuck with me at Xtal until Alpe opens up.

Dr. Highman (I mean, Mullah!), I still yearn to earn my Crystal degree from your esteemed college of Xtal addiction! Perhaps we can make some turns during the next storm cycle. I hope the test is essay format. I'm more creative that way.

Nope Not Teddy Bear Chutes, the picture is of the chutes between silver basin proper and Three-way, commonly refered to as Three way Chutes. Teddy bear is in the north back...
