1-70 Closed between Idaho Springs and Vail.

Just got off the phone with my buddy who lives in Breck and is currently stranded at the Taco Bell in Frisco. Says it is snowing way too hard to drive...

    Skiing Friday!!!

not good times. He isn't going anywhere fast. I'd suggest a better venue to be stranded.

As long as the roads are open for me to get up to Loveland tomorrow morning, I'm a happy man.

With more Meximelts on the way, he seems content with being stranded there, for the short-term.

he has lived in Breck for five years and claims he has never seen it snow so hard.

Also, the radar to the west is lighting up like a Christmas Tree and there are reports of thunder and lightning in Vail. Convection could really bump up some of the snow totals...

My guess, it will be 75 and sunny in less than 15 minutes

I've been on this board for 5 years and never heard that saying so many times in a two hour span in regards to Summit. This is fucking awesome and I want to quit my job now.

OMG, this is so freaking amazing!!! Tomorrow will be off the hook. Today was off the hook. They dropped ropes for us on Loveland's chair one terrain. I have had so many sweet days there, but this one was for the history books. Who else was there, people were yelling at me from the chair???!!!

Tomorrow will be bluebird, but please let's not go in the backcountry, ok! Remember, is it already three, years ago what happened to KC...

Any in bounds will be so fun.

I've been here for 11 seasons and never seen it snow this hard. I think it's snowed 4" in the last 40 minutes. It's an absolute white out. I may be sleeping at the office tonight. FKNA!!!

On a side note, the terrain underneath E chair @ Breck opened in the afternoon today. Shweet!

You are gonna have the best day ever. Just watch patrol - follow them, talk to them. They will tell you when/what you can ski. Pip, if you're seeing this or hearing about it, thank you so much. That was amazing fun!

What a DAY! ridiculous amounts of fresh turns, boot deep at keystone, 2 beatiful feet in pockets at the basin.

blurred got the fresh first dibs on some run that ends at Montezuma. troller just lifted the rope, B ducked under, and the bastard killed it on his spatty's all the way down.

total white out up here. this is just out of hand. . .

gave the boss the powder clause this morning and have been in heaven ever since. i may not show up to work tomorrow if this keeps up.

Breck has a THIRTY NINE inch base, folks. that's 3 and 9, yes. nutty.

i love this state. must up the quiver of one to a quiver of two. a 100mm waisted board is definitely needed now. missing the sanouks today. but a BD verdict could be on the wish list, heh, heh. . .

Yeah, it's closed, but they'll prolly blast at 6:30 am and have it open by 7-7:30.

Don't ski up there until we get an idea of the level of natural releases first, right? This is big enough to take out trees and create new lines even.

    FKNA!!!

Absolute Puking here in Vail. I have not seen it snow this hard here in years! It is simply amazing. I can confirm rumors of thunder and lighting. Opening day might not suck!

I-70 is closed and it looks like will remain closed for at least another 12 hours. Make sure you all check out the CDOT website before heading up tomorrow AM. Gonna have to take the back roads tomorrow AM.
