I'm reading the Silmarilion right now. I absolutely love how he created this whole universe with the intertwining of various religious and mythical backgrounds. Now normally that's nothing special, but Tolkien imparted great character development and a history all his own. And that's what makes this book. Great read.Originally posted by TJ.Brk
Yep. I got my tickets for the showing at St Adele. If you all ever get the chance I suggest reading all of the books. Even the history volumns. "History of Middle Earth: Book of lost tales I, II".
Really gets into the nuts and bolts of JRR's thought process in the creation of his charactors. His used lots of Old Testiment struction to frame his charactors.
Edit: And why the hell did Peter Jackson leave Tom Bombadil out of the first one? That was a travesty.
