K2 phat luv

okay, something might have been posted about this already, but the search function wouldn't let me search for "k2 phat luv." So.

Anyone skied it? Ladies? I'm considering getting a pair and mounting some freerides, but they're MUCH fatter than anything I've ever skied, and I'm wondering if I'll even be able to turn them. Not like they're probably meant for turning anyways, but...

I assure you shorty, that you will turn em, you can turn almost any ski out there, maybe like xplosivs withholding, well even them in like a 160 you'd rip on.

Sexiest ski i've seen so far. By themselves they are a turn on. You put a tely binder and brade your blond fair, talk with a norwegian accent. Sa mère. Suis en amour cris.

They're on my Christmas wish list. I haven't tried them yet but you should have no problem turning them. My Big Stix 106 are way fatter and turn just fine.

Bought a pair for my wife for xmas.
It was hard to find reviews, other than one blurb in Ski mag (they tested the 160cm (shortest length made) and loved it, but that seemed small for her, so I bought the 167s).
They are the AK launcher or Axis AK with a slightly softer flex and girly grahpics. Based on that, I think they will be great for her.
As far as being too fat, it doesn't seem so these days. Also she still has her X-Screams for east coast ice adn hardpack.
I have heard they are sold out at the factory level. Most shops sell them for $550, but I weasled a pair for $475.

I don't know if it's going to happen though... I talked to my patrol director who I could get proform through, and he said there is no more proform on those skis; they were gone in October. I don't know if I'd still want to shell out for 'em or not. Other skis I was looking at were the Dynastar LBF or the Inspired, but I don't know anyone with Dynastar proform, and I'm cheap. Or just broke.

Job=yes. No one will hire me because I won't work on the weekends. If I worked on the weekends, I would never get to ski and that just wouldn't do.

what's your degree in? I would much rather work on the weekends and ski during the week. No crowds, no traffic in the high country, etc.

unfortunately, no degree yet. I have one semester left in pre-vet. Vet school is the best option, but I think I need a break from school for awhile... well, actually I have to take a year off, to get CO residency. No way in hell am I paying out of state tuition for vet or even grad school.

Hey, thought I'd add my review. I did get Phat Luv's for Christmas Woohoo!! And had a blast skiing them on Christmas day - 9" fresh.

Yes, I already probably had more skis than I really need, but I started thinking it would be nice to have something shorter, relatively soft and easy to ski in trees and tight stuff. (And something requiring less effort on days when my knees are pissed off after too many consecutive days.) Everything else I have are 178-180s (G4s, Big Stix 106, and AK Launchers mounted tele.) So I went crazy and asked for 167 Phat Luvs to make sure they weren't duplicating everything else I already have (the 174's looked suspiciously similar to my 180 AK Launchers). On the first lift ride up I started to wonder if I really made a mistake cuz they are SHORT- until I hit the first pow turn in the trees under Germ liftline. Exactly what I was looking for - just easy and fun to ski - they turn with no effort but were nice and stable (unlike previous women's skis I demoed).

Granted, high speed bumpy runouts were a little sketchy, but not impossible - the tails are nice and stiff and that helps compensate. I'm sure in the longer length it isn't a big deal - I'm just not used to skis this short. (I assumed I'd be compromising any high speed stability with that length anyway - and they were better than I expected.)

Powder turns - both high speed arcs on the backside and tight turns in the trees felt fantastic - the flex is just right and they float well. And I honestly can't tell you what they're like on a groomer because it was a storm day and there wasn't anything really groomed.

Today, for super deep powder I went back to the Big Stix. And wished I had 190s. But the Phat Luvs are excellent - in the longer length they'd make a great daily ski - shorter length for my storm skis.
