    Screw BCA

I got my tracker about a year ago, and my second time using it the cheap little on/off switch popped right off. Strange. Took it into a shop, and they gave me a new beacon right away, I thought the problem was fixed. Two weeks later I get a call saying that my beacon has been repaired and that I need to bring the new one back to the shop and get my old one.

I was doing beacon drills up on the mountain before we headed out skiing on saturday, and in the search mode, it restarted twice, the lights lit up, it told me the battery power and switched into transmit. While searching. Then I could not get it to turn on at all. This appears to be a power source problem.

So I bring it into the shop, and it turns out that BCA wants to see the beacon, not just replace it. So I am without a beacon for at least two weeks.

My beeper may have just been a lemon, but replace the damn thing so i can go skiing! This is shitty customer service from a company with a good reputation and I'm fucking pissed.
    I love big dumps.

I think most people on the board have had very positive experiences with BCA by calling them directly; they may just send you a new beacon, or at least a loaner while yours is in the shop....give it a shot 303-417-1345

I had a tracker switch fail at silverton a few winters ago. Couldn't turn it on, no loaners available, couldn't ski. It sucked.

i've had great expeiriance with bca in the past, i second dealing with them directly.
still, the thought of beacons failing scares the crap out of me. should be the one piece of gear you know you can trust.

I would call BCA, they are clearly the finest when it comes to dealing with stuff like this. Cut out the middle man (the shop). The biggest problem, after reading your post, seems like a disorganized retail store telling you one thing and doing another.

p.s. we've been skiing for a month now and have already had a substantial avalanche that resulted in a partial burial in the region. It may be November, but you still can't go out without a beacon.

its two weeks til the lifts open, so thats two weeks of not skiing.
and even if the lifts were open, skiing bridger without a beacon is pretty lame.

of course it's all a moot point since i can probably loan him a beacon anytime he needs it.

When I had an issue with my Naxo's the last few years, I posted a very harsh review of them. BCA takes so much pride and concern in its products that they took the time to track me down, email and call me in person. They thenworked with me to make sure that I woul be happy with the outcome.

BCA has te best customer service in the industry and they stand behind and back the gear that they sell up.

I am willing to bet its the shop, not BCA that is screwing with you.
