    I'm watching the wasatch

I've not been this stoked about a new toy that wasn't ski/climb related since Christmas as a kid. Long story short, from this "tower room" in the money pit that I'm building there is a keen view of the backside of the wasatch including Sunset Peak, Timpanogus, BCC, Snake Creek. So I bought this telescope so I can scope ski lines from the comfort of my home.

To try it out last night I checked out the moon - Freaking unbelievable how cool those crators would be to ski. Huge they are.

I'm hoping I can find a line visible through the scope and then ski it while the family can watch. I did that once from our condo in Park City when I went moonlight skiing (set of one of those strobe fireworks from the ridge and skied down with it).

    Thumbs up

Stash, that is a nice telescope, I have one of those myself, just in black. Yes, the moon craters are amazing to say the least.

One problem with looking at the landscape though, it is going to be upside down, so make sure you ski all lines switch.

Only the denizens of these ski fiend grottos would understand. Anybody else would try to lock you up.

    OK, post number two

Hey Pow, nice refractor. Been doing the astro thing for a number of years, built a couple of telescopes, etc. As a backcountry tool, I think their wonderful. Actually got to watch some cool avalanches when the alpha angle was like 1degree . How much did that set ya back? Ever do any photography through it? That would be a good thing for the family to do while you're skiing that line. Anybody done any digital photography through their telescope?

    Science mode off...
