    Ultimate touring/freeride set-up ?

Dynastar Legend Pro Rider 186cm, Dynafit TLT Comfort and 4 years old Scarpa Laser. What do you think of it ? Good, bad or rad ?

Having never skied those skis, bindings or boots, I cannot comment.

You're gonna want more boot to control that ski properly.
When the ski tip gets deflected, its gonna be translated into major boot flex.
OTOH, it is quite do-able to ski stiff skis with soft boots, provided you ski in balance and with more finess than power.

Some will say the ski is too stiff or too heavy, but that depends on your style and whether you do long tours, respectively.
Others will say why put TLT's on an LP, but I say put the weight where you want it (in the ski versus in the binding).

Assuming you get this for cheap, its a sweet setup. If you are spending coin, I would change the LP's for Soft Bros. Similar ski in lighter weight and softer flex. Or Stiff Bros if you want stiff but light.

Might be too much ski for that boot.

I have the same boot with a stiff (not World Cup) Flexon tongue, and booster straps, with Comforts on a 181 Axis AK, (90mm waist). Works perfect.

Used the same boots with some old 193 XXX's, and it wasn't much fun. Doable, but not fun. Tried them again on some 188 XXX's. Better, but still too much work.

    YMMV.

interesting choice. you want the lp's but try to offset the heavy weight by putting a binding and boot combo together that can't control the ski. i'd say get some trekkers and your heavy alpine setup and have at it. you'll appreciate those tlt's and lasers all the more after a season on those.

It'll be way too much ski for the boot.

To each his own I suppose.

Thanks for the input. I'm a true finesse skier, DIN's set 6-7 usually. I like the Laser more than latest Denali even with stiff skis like 10.EX or G4. I'm more worried of the TLT, I've heard it is reliable, but anyway is it robust enough to drive fat, big skis ?

It won't be your problem. Dynafits ski better than the other AT bindings.

Edit: And at DIN 6-7 any fucking binding would work.

If you are DIN 6-7 you have no business skiing LP's.

    leBig,

Those bindings will work great! I use comforts on Voile carbon surfs 188 and the orig tlt with Dynastar bigs 190, also with a stock Laser. The dynafits are more durable than other AT bindings and the comfort has longer heel pins than the tlt for even better retention. Have a sweet season!

its not rad, but its what i got:
freerides, pocket rockets and heavy ass Nordica 12's, got to get in shape somehow.
More fucked up than a cricket in a hubcap

Heli Daddies/Freerides and either Lowa Strukturas or Dabello Avanti V 12's depending on whether I'm touring or staying inbounds

I'm hoping this is the holy grail, light and soft enough to be driven by the Strukturas but yet burly enough to rip inbounds with Alpine boots
For sure, you have to be lost to find a place that can't be found, elseways everyone would know where it was

Agreed. Great setup. Love your style hwy star. Had enough of my fritchis going into walk mode after hucking 30fters and flying uncontrollably as back seat as i can to stop going over the handlebars..... Scary, now it's back to old faithful. Trekkers are heavy, but I'm hoping some preseason long distance cycling with 2lb leg weights on will kinda get me used to it. Plus I'm sick of people with holes drilled in everything to save weight. Fill your pack with helium, holes in the bindings and water bottles Then they carry waaaay more tech gear than they need so they end up weighing more anyways. Who needs 2L of water? Melt snow if you need it. I plan on 80+ days BC on em, now if only I can get them to traverse easily...

im pretty happy with my existing touring setup -

    bro models, freerides, and flexons.

only thing to switch up occasionally when getting a bit more techy is the boots.

Having found the limits of Fritschis for downhill skiing, I'm not a big fan.

Everyone dumps on Trekkers, but the Diamirs aren't much better on sidehills. I've torqued the heel bar outside of the elevator multiple times.

Clearly Dynafit is the right solution from an engineering perspective, but the price of entry is daunting: $800-900 for boots and bindings.

192 Elan 777s. they saw about 150-200 days, the titanal bar got pretty bent on one foot, and a little on the other. Largely because the heel depressor for the break kept breaking. The mounting was right, but they're a pretty flexy ski, and bigger hucks became a problem. Powder wasn't so bad, but in spring last season when it got a firm layer on top but still a soft enough pack to huck they got pretty bad.
