after speaking with someone else regarding the film, i wanted to know if anyone else had seen it and what they thought of it.

Anyone have any trouble w/ the DVDs not playing? My DVD player is back at Sony again (apparently they're giving me a new one now), but I tried it on my Mac here at work and it spit the disc out again.

Hoping it's just some 'puter idiosyncracy, cause I'll be really peeved if I can't watch it.

    I liked it.

First of all the music was great. For my tastes, it was the best ski porn soundtrack ever. That really made the movie for me.

The powder skiing was really good too. I did expect a bit more of it based on the trailer, but I really can't complain. As an aside, the Utah section of High Life trumped it. There were some sick, deep shots in there. Still though, Sinners was good in this department.

My only real gripe was the ummm...landings. I think they biffed 90% of them. I guess it's nice that they didn't edit out all the carnage, but it got pretty boring seeing people crash all the time.

I will still be buying this sucker though. Shit, he sent me two DVD-Rs free of charge, just to hold me over until the pressed ones come in. I can't find words of gratitude for that.

    pros: good music, beautiful photography

cons: waaaaayyy tttoooooo muuuucccchhh ssslllllooooowwww mmmmoooooo. to my memory almost every single "action" shot was in slow motion.

bottom line I suggest everyone who hasn't seen this flick watch it and decide for yourself, but in all honesty if you are looking for a "soul of the sport " representation " Immersion " is a better film, and not in a big trick/ stuck landing sort of way either.

    i'm still on the fence.

the cinematography was absolutely stunning. i don't think i've seen anything look as good ever. it looked like moving photos from good powder photo annuals. however, i don't think the movie would've lasted more than 5 minutes if everything wasn't in super slow motion.

i can only imagine how good it's going to be when i turn off the sound and put ambient music on instead. i think the pace will be improved quite a bit with less jack johnson type music.

the landings got a bit annoying after 4-5 botched ones.

i can't wait for ski your ass off to show up.

    Thumbs up

Recieved my copy today, it's great, just really great. I want to watch it 100 times, super tunes and just so much that most ski movies are not. This is what they should aspire to be.

Good to hear a positive review. I love the movie myself and it only gets better the more you watch it. It makes me want to pack up the car and head to WH20 tonight.
