An old TR from the Wallowas

Here's some shots from a tour we did in the Wallowas off the tram back in the day when they had the sense to run the thing in the winter.

If you get a chance, send the owners of the tram a note expressing interest:
    http://www.wallowalaketramway.com/ .

Also of note for your hutheads out there:
http://www.wingski.com/ - the 6 day Aneroid tour is fantastic.

    The tram

    Skinning out toward McCully Basin

The view up to East Peak on the way

Taking a break, looking N. over Hell's Canyon towards Seven Devils

Roger Averbeck, Wing Ridge Tours owner with N. side Aneroid chutes behind him.

nice old TR, but still stoke

when we were up on the tram over Labor Day weekend, I could see an infinite number of lines possible off the top of the tram.

asked the guys at the tram if they'd consider opening again for the winter but never got a definitive "yes" or "no". Sounds like they might run the tram if they get enough inquiry again this winter. Keep on 'em to keep it open...

So why do they call this a tram? It looks like a gondola to me.

It is a gondola, not fixed grip, but they call it a tram.

It's such a great place, too bad they don't know how to market it.
