    EuroMaggott Zermatt question

I'm going to Zermatt on the 2nd of December for the weekend and was hoping some other euromaggots can help me find a nice hotel in zermatt for 2 nights.

    Any recommendations?

    I've never been before.

If any other maggots want to be there and hook up the same weekend, gimme a shout.

Thanks guys, I'll have a look at them now.

Is it better to be in one particular part of zermatt for the lifts or does it not matter ?

    Wildstyle, Do you know Tangy?

Hotel Gornegratt near the station isn't too bad pricewise.

The Zermatt web site is a good ref. If you call the listed number they are also helpful. The post Hotel is fairly priced and there's a nightclub in the building. Permin Zubriggen owns a couple places on the edge of town that are real nice but it's a bit of a walk to the nightly festivities.
Go to the co-op and load up on the beer and spirits. The going rate last summer was about seven bucks US for a pils and a nine for a guiness.

Hayduke, thanks for the info. i don't know tangy, sorry. I assume he's bristol based ?

Rotorhead, thanks. I'll look into that one. I'd like one as close to the station as possible as i hate walking too far kitted up.

I've been looking at the zermatt website but i always like to get personal recommendations.

    It's a shop in Easton.

If you stay by the station you're closest to the Gornegratt cog-train, it's not a massive walk to the Klein Matterhorn lifts though.

I absolutely loved the hotel julen, we stayed in the luxury suite with the view of the matterhorn, la di da. Great breakfast buffet and five course dinner, excellent service as well, top notch.

There are 2 hostels, a private one and a government one.
The govt one is nicer. Food is good too. Check them out for private rooms.
The private one is for when you are being cheap. Don't eat there.

Hotels? No clue. Never stayed at one in Zermatt in the numerous times there.

Pending snow conditions, I might be coming down that weekend. Paging Ripalot!
That is our annual check out Cervina weekend. But, pending snow!

Hotel Ginabelle is pretty pimp and very English-friendly. They are located very close to the Sunnegga lift (accesses all the good freeride terrain, but may very well not be open that early). It's ~12 minute walk to the Furri lift @ the end of town. I'll be here that weekend.

And which would the "Matterhorn Hostel" be? It seems like a pretty good deal for a solo traveller in March, no?
