CO Mags: Beacon Practice this Sat?

It would be really good for me to get in some beacon practice time. Also thinking it wouldn't be bad to go over some snowpack analysis/test stuff too. So, anyone else up for some practice/refreshers? My intention by no means is to "teach"...I don't feel qualified for that...hopefully, rather, we can all learn from each other. Might be helpful to review your avy books beforehand on the test/analysis stuff.

Thinking this Saturday..."casual" start time, somewhere near Denver, (I've got something in mind, but open to suggestions), my idea would involve a "short" skin-in. Focus definitely not on turns...I don't want it to turn into a "ok, I've done 15 minutes of beacon work, ready to ski!".

Any interest? Just reply here for now...

I may be interested depending on how my week shakes out. BZ and I have been talking about this is Slide Zone a little as well. In my opinion, any tour this time of year should be focused on rescue senarios and enjoying the outdoors. Good turns will come in time.

I did see that thread over there in Oct (I think I even replied once), forgot to check in now. Hopefully this will get a bit more exposure in this forum.

I'm with you on focus. I also like your thoughts on "rescue scenarios" instead of just "beacon searches". Would be great to have you out there. If not this weekend, hopefully some other time soon.

I believe I'll be free and could use the practice. My bc setup isnt finished so I would only be able to swing an area that is hiker friendly

I'm hoping to tour on Saturday. Thanks for the invite though. I need to practice for sure.

Who's doing level 2 around here this year? I want to retake it and it'd be fun to do with maggots.
