Is it too early to talk about this?
I'm committed to going to Yurp this year, but I haven't committed where and when (but I'm trying to figure it out).
I would be very interested in attending.

Later would be better for me. March would rule.
La Grave was amazing last time. Any ideas on venues? Chamonix and La Grave tend to work pretty good although Engelberg would be a sweet location too.
Maybe near the end of March, so as to accomodate any globe-hoppers going to the summit at Whistler (March 3rd through 11th)?
Any place that at least a couple people know pretty well would be sweet I should think. Cham might be excellent with Idris, Redskea, and Flingle all there this year.
During the week of the mini would be sweet, because thats when I have time off.
Possibly an alternative to the summit?
February not good for France. School holidays so usually crowded and expensive.
Perfect for me! It'll be nice to see you over this side, this time.Originally Posted by shmerham

my plan was to hold on until easter for la grave. 2 years ago it was excellent over easter. and last year would have been even better if i had gone.Originally Posted by bad_roo

i would be very interested in engelberg, anytime. march would be great. chamonix works too, but i probably would just day trip over. stanton/arlberg should also be considered.
ripz, i remember when we were both in la grave that easter, and both got injured and taken out of action just as it was starting to chuck it down with snow!Originally Posted by Ripzalot
i'll be in la grave pretty much the whole of the upcoming winter, and anyone's welcome to come and stay, i'm praying for snow.... i'd also love to go and try engelberg or chamonix too, and it would be good to meet some more maggots!
Are you talking about the week of the Utah mini in February?Originally Posted by CantDog
I second/third Engelberg or Stanton this time.
When are you going to grave?Originally Posted by vertigo
Propably cruising through the place in the christmastime.
Was the planned opening on the 18th of dec or something?
The floggings will continue until morale improves.
Only trouble with Engelberg is we'd have to have a couple of guys who knew their way around otherwise we'd likely miss all of the good stuff.
Not such a problem in Cham or La Grave.
That part shouldn't be hard at all (paging SP et al). At Stanton I could show you around.Originally Posted by bad_roo
Plus a yearly change adds some variation to it.

Any time in march works for me. Do either of the summit weekends (march 4-5 or March 11-12) work for anyone?Originally Posted by CantDog
Sounds like we're still flailing in the dark with the euro summit.
I'm in les deux alpes for the 5th march til the 12 of march and i'd love to hook up with some maggots for a La grave mission for a few days.
how does the 5-12th march sound ... either weekend ?
Semper in Pulveris .... Only the depth varies
I'll be in St. Anton for the month of February if anyone is up for a Mini there.
The end of March (i.e. week of the 25th March) is absolutely the best for me. I won't be able to do any other time in March which is why I'm backing Shmerham's initial idea!Originally Posted by shmerham
I think that may be Easter week, though. Would that make it busy?

Yes. And expensive.Originally Posted by Mrs Roo
Ok, so we have some disagreement for march. How about late january ? 21-28th ? chamonix ? la thuile / la rosiere heli skiing ?
pluspoints:
Cheap accomodation ,quiet slopes, good chance of decent snow.
minuspoints:
super cold....

easter is on 16 April so end of march would be pretty good IMO. i've got 3 days with a guide booked over the weeknd from 1 to 3 April (we're going to go wherever is good in the western alps basically) so i might be able to link up with people that weekendOriginally Posted by Mrs Roo
Since the main eastern break is around mid of April next year second half in March will just work fine regarding the crowds. Plus snow has probably settled well to keep avy hazards lower.
I haven't met any of you, but it would be great to hook up at a summit. My vote goes for late march, as I am in the alps from the 24th of march - 2nd of April. First half I will probably be touring in the berner oberland. The second half I will however probably be heading for Engelberg. The destination for the latter half is still not settled for me, so if you guys are heading other places, I would consider hooking up.

All work and no play, ... you know...
Right, week of 25th March it is. Let's bust a poll...
I need to chime in here. It is still early, so we should consider this more.
First, who knows when Euro holidays are?
France? Belgium? Usually they are in February. Which weeks?
Next, last week of March is late over here.
The Green line chases the White line up the hill.
My suggestion is this:
If the last week in February/first week in March is not a holiday time,
then I'd suggest that.
In fact, I suggest the first non-holiday week, whenever it is.
Plenty of base, still cold, cheap airfare, no crowds, and hopefully snowing.
Easter is not in conflict, which is good because Easter is packed.
But, we need data. When are the holidays?
And, did we pick a place?
Ski, Bike, Climb.
Resistence is futile.
