explosive vs tele/sugar daddy

I hate these threads as well but I couldn't find any daddy info using search(other then the fact that Yoss's has two pairs of teledaddies, dawg)

Skied the explosive but never the daddies. How much difference is there between the sugar and the tele or is it just a different topsheet. Probably going to mount them with Freerides or NX21s

I have a set of teledaddys 183 with freerides. They ski powder like mad dogs, and are good in crud and corn also. I`d take them on a trip if i could only take one pair and wanted to ski the area and tour occasionally. For mostly backcountry i usually go with a lighter setup with dynafits. The old sugar`s had a binding plate, but i believe the newer ones did away with that. Should be okay in that case. They aren`t very quick and you`d get worked in the bumps, but the skis are very stable at speed. Hope this helps...

as an aside, i actually found the teledaddys to be surprisingly manageable in the bumps, as long as we're not talking serious hardpack zipper line bumpage. But they're soft enough to manage some quick turns when needed.

But anyway: laser, I had the daddys mounted alpine last year, liked em so friggin much (fav ski so far) that I found another pair. I've got one set up with tele binders, and one as an AT rig now. We'll see how it turns out.

Versus the Explosiv, the Daddy is softer for sure, and lighter by a long shot. The ski is pretty solid underfoot, and medium stiff in the tail, but definitely has a forgiving shovel, which I've recently discovered I like more than having a stiff board tip to tail. It's actually a LOT like the BroModels, just a little shorter, and with a slightly more hinged flex (the Bro gives a very even, round flex through the transition from underfoot to forebody).

As for tele vs. sugar, the old sugar was definitely different from the tele, but now, I'm not so sure its not the same ski. I thought the sugar was slightly stiffer than the tele, but perhaps not. Never have heard a definitive answer from an actual Atomic source. Telepath would know perhaps.

Both the Bros and Sugars/Teles are very light for being 99mm underfoot. Great touring skis. I ultimately went for the 183 teles instead of the Bros for touring because as noted above, they are pretty stable at speed, and I wanted to ski the CO b/c trees at 183cm instead of 188cm. For an old slow guy like me, every little bit helps.

I'd have to agree w/ my mang here.
I really like the GS'y feel of the Explosiv's (great b/c corn ski, especially if there's ice) but my pimps are more? fun. Guess part of that is the twin tip, they were rippin on Mt Rose chutes last season.
