    Flexon tongue switch?

To switch out tongues on a pair of flexons do I just need to drill out the old tongue and rivet on the new one or is there an easier way to make the switch?

After three runs on my brand new flexons the tongue snapped in half, but Barry @ Swiss Sport Haus (did I mention how awesome that shop is?) is sending out a new a pair of tongues for free that should be here next week.

    Or maybe it is easier?

I just got this from Swiss Sport Haus: relatively easy to replace them by taking pliers to unhook the broken one.usually get the 2 prongs of the pliers on the inside of the metal clip holding the tongue on the boot and spread them till pop out and to install spread the clip a little by inserting the one side and then lift the other end into the small hole...

I'll leave that up for any searchers later on.

Just cannabilized some regular Flexons for parts so I have some insight first-hand. This is a piece of cake: Just slide the metal spacer of the clip assembly upwards as far as it will go(towards the tongue), then spread the clip(nearest the boot) until one side pops out and the tongue with the attached clip can be removed easily. Good luck, gotta get back to drilling out all those buckle rivets...

Are these some of the new-old stock (ie very old but un-used)?
If so, the cracked tongue might be a bad sign for the rest of the shell.
Some older plastics (80's mostly) can turn brittle with age or age + lots of UV light. the pink San Marcos, old Nordicas, and the infamous Tecnica Explosion come to mind.
It's probably just the tongue- but if these are old boots, keep an eye on the shells for fading/discoloration and hairline cracks.

I just bend the prongs that hold in the tongue. I'd heard about the brittle plastic too. What color are yours?
