...MORE WINTER LIKE WEATHER EXPECTED FOR NORTHERN CALIFORNIA
MOUNTAINS OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS..
A SERIES OF PACIFIC WEATHER SYSTEMS ARE FORECAST TO MOVE THROUGH
NORTHERN CALIFORNIA OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS. EACH OF THESE EARLY
SEASON WEATHER SYSTEMS WILL BRING GUSTY WINDS AND SNOWFALL TO THE
HIGHER ELEVATIONS. THE FIRST OF THESE SYSTEMS IS EXPECTED TO REACH
THE MOUNTAINS OF FAR NORTHERN CALIFORNIA BY LATE THIS AFTERNOON OR
EVENING. AS THIS SYSTEM MOVES THROUGH NORTHERN CALIFORNIA TONIGHT
AND WEDNESDAY...IT WILL BRING A FEW TO SEVERAL INCHES OF SNOWFALL
TO THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS AS WELL AS GUSTY WINDS UP TO 40 MPH. SNOW
LEVELS WITH THIS SYSTEM WILL BEGIN ABOVE 8000 FEET BUT THEN DROP
DURING THE DAY ON WEDNESDAY AS COLDER AIR MOVES IN. BY WEDNESDAY
AFTERNOON SNOW LEVELS WILL BE DOWN TO 4500 FEET OVER THE NORTHERN
MOUNTAINS OF CALIFORNIA AND DOWN TO 6500 FEET OVER THE NORTHERN
SIERRA NEVADA.
AFTER A BRIEF BREAK WEDNESDAY NIGHT...A SECOND...WETTER WEATHER
SYSTEM IS FORECAST TO BRING MORE SNOW AND GUSTY WINDS TO THE HIGHER
ELEVATIONS ON THURSDAY. THIS SYSTEM COULD BRING SEVERAL INCHES OF
NEW SNOWFALL WITH SNOW LEVELS RANGING FROM AROUND 5000 FEET OVER THE
NORTHERN MOUNTAINS OF CALIFORNIA TO AROUND 6000 TO 7000 FEET OVER
THE NORTHERN SIERRA. A THIRD WEATHER SYSTEM COULD BRING LIGHTER
AMOUNTS OF PRECIPITATION AND GUSTY WINDS ON FRIDAY.
IF TRAVELING INTO THE MOUNTAINS OF NORTHERN CALIFORNIA OVER THE
NEXT SEVERAL DAYS...BE PREPARED FOR WINTER DRIVING
CONDITIONS...CARRY TIRE CHAINS AND CHECK THE LATEST ROAD AND
WEATHER REPORTS BEFORE DEPARTURE.
