    Roland Green retired

Is anyone else bummed that Rolie just retired? I was hoping for a big comeback next year but I guess not, great dude and great cyclist. Lame that the guy completely dominated 2001 & 2002 yet velonews still hasn't written anything of his retirement, must be too preoccupied with Lance's retirement that they can't give anyone else props
oh so i guess i'm the asshole!

Super nice guy and I am happy for his sucess in past years. I used to love to see him lap the pro field a couple of times at the bastion square crit every year in Victoria. A fun guy to have at a party and I wish him all the best in his future endeavors.

I got the impression that a lot of the american cycling media did not really warm to him for some reason. Same with Ryder. Oh well.
Recently overheard: "Hey Ralph, what were you drinking that time that you set your face on fire?"

I can't imagine why ....... Oh wait, they aren't american. BTW I assume you meant Sydor.

The sad thing is they both were all but lost in the Canadian media too. Allison actually got some press by times, Green almost none.
It's not so much the model year, it's the high mileage or meterage to keep the youth of Canada happy

I meant Ryder Hesjedal. Alllison got some pretty good media when she was dominating. I just don't get why rollie or ryder were ignored. I know that not being american is the best way to get ignored as an athlete in foreign media but both of those guys crushed all comers for years and the only thing that got mentioned was some obscure american rider that would finish back in 57th place and how he was the next big hope.

Yeah, canadian media is not the best unles you play hockey or some other high profile sport. It would be nice for canadians to support canadian amatuer athletes. This is too big a can of worms to open up though.

Other than hockey players too young for the NHL but showing promise you mean.

Our priorities are different I'm sure but how many canadians know who Michael Barry is? Even though he rides for postal/Discovery and was 7th in the world championships right here in canada a couple of years back.

Sure if they win they're on radar for a year and than back to obscurity and poverty.
