    Line Prophets

The Line Prophet 155 has me intrigued, it is the one new ski I would really like to give a try. My style has progressed up to Sanouks 130 tip....but I would be intrigued to see what the progression to a 155 would do (maybe good, maybe not, but interesting).

    Who has skied?

On another note, I was on their webpage and it has some cool shit. There are vid clips with the designers telling the specs of this ski....and Pollard talking about the prototyping and design.

Also their new marketing campaign is worth some discussion. They are claiming no real team, but are planning on using local skiers in their future adds. A new twist for a ski company (especially Line, who was all about the groms).

I have wondered where you draw the line and start calling them snowlerblades...

But that doesn't mean I wouldn't give them a try.

Brett and I talked to the owner at SIA for quite a while, but I wasn't really paying close attention. Hopefully he''ll chime in though.

    Yeah tech talk....your right.

Anyhow, the thing that seems interesting, is that the sidecut part of the ski actually ends about 10 cm short of the tip. So the huge tip is actually tapered. This is what makes these different from something like a PowderPlus (which is totally traditional, and still 15 or so smaller). That fact is what I think puts it into it's own genre.

Yeah Shera, it would be interesting if Jason L came back on here.

What the shit are you talking about? I'm pretty sure 130 waisted 186cm planks are about as far away from the line to snowlerblades as you can get. Nice PocketRockets by the way....

i think he probably figured that 155 was the length, i myself was a bit confused whether that was the case, or maybe possibly it was the width underfoot, (making myself sound like a retard here)

Only secondhand... but I skied with two Karhu guys a bunch at Alpine Meadows last year who tele'd on Prophet 130's (with Karhu topsheets) . They had them out for just about every day with fresh snow. They swore by them.

The tip design is pretty cool. Companies have been doing multiple-radii sidecuts for a while now, but I believe the Prophet 130 uses 5 radii from tip to tail.

SheRa and I had a long talk with Jason at SIA last Winter.

After his explaination of how every kid sliding new rails wants new skis from him when they break them, and how he would fix Bad Roos situation after we talked......... I'm happy to be a LINE supporter again. (Just got some MoShips for LoneStar yesterday ) If I remember right, I pm'd Bad Roo about it then, and he was over the whole ski drama thing then and let it go.

Give Jason a break. He's used to dealing with the "newschoolers.com" crowd.

My reglued Motherships are still working. I still recommend them to anybody who asks as a decent ski. Didn't like how he came across but the company seem to be turning out some very good products. But then so do many others.

If this is really J Lev, are you actually using local talent for your ads? What is that about?

Are you going to expand this idea past jibber kids? If you want locals to actually start skiing the prophet you better expand the marketing past jibbers (I have so far only seen one squaw skier on them).

I am sure there are some of us here that would be happy to test them....and show up for photo shoots.

I'm psyched you're down with the Motherships, they've been my favorite for years too. I can't wait to hear what some of you think of the Prophets. We designed these from the ground up for years with Pollard to be as progressive in Freeride as our other skis are in freestyle. It would be great if someone could let me know the next time you guys get together somewhere in the country so I can try to get some demos there for you to try. We're real proud of our new Prophet series.
Also yes we're expanding our marketing to include locals. We've been documenting and promoting only "pro" athletes as the icons of the sport. Everyone uses this formula and it was just getting old for us. All brands these days are saying the same thing to the same people and using the same skiers to do it. After ten year's of it I began feeling like there had to be a better way to promote more of skiing's inspirational & diverse stories to more people, more often by taking advantage of today's technology. The internet is great for video which enables us to say and show so much more as often as we create the content. Check the video on the Prophet page to see what I mean. For this reason, we're not doing any print ads. Instead we're focusing all of our efforts on developing video ads. Some will highlight pros, some locals and all will not only cover the freestyle side of things but also FREERIDE. Check the site and click on the fist icon at top. We're looking for people like you to help us tell skiing's story. www.lineskis.com

Limescale, rust, ground-in dirt. They're a problem for some skis but not the Line Mothership.

Wow, I guess it really is J.....welcome back.

Hmmm.....that is some interesting marketing. I personally agree that I am done with pros.....now that I am older and (slightly) wiser, some 22 year old punk skier doesnt necessary get me stoked. I want you to find the locals that everyone looks up to (for being as good as any pro), but no one outside their resort even knows (paging Huckstix + Goldenboy ).

Please do find a way to get the Prophets available for demos. I think alot of us are intrigued....but we got to get on the product before we can decide to change from the Sanouks and Spatula's of the world.

A couple different '05 SIA roll-call threads and neither you nor Shera could find the time to respond? I guess if you're afraid about not being able to delete what you say like you can with posts makes sense though. Did you make out with Jaime Pierre some more while you were there?

Don't forget we're also making the Prophet in a 100 waist in three lengths. I think this will be the most popular version for the reson you pointed out. It also features our Metal Matrix freeride specific technology where we die cut titanium for extra power and responsiveness where you need it and reduced weight were you don't. Check the specs and video. Its a flash site or else I'd link you direct, but just click on the icon of the guy doing a spreadeagle on the top nav then "freeride" www.lineskis.com

Sorry about that. Just put a big L on my forehead.

Hey Jason, glad to see you here. Brent's moships look very sweet. Cool flex and shape and all that good stuff.

Chair nine terrain at Loveland would be a great place to try out the prophets. We could prolly do a mini just for that and get 20 or 50 people. If you brought enough pairs you could get some cool footie of maggots ripping en masse.

I really find the whole "ski industry" thing ickypoo. So NOT what skiing is about. So the kids are marketed clothes and the old farts are marketed condos. It's all the same garbage.

Hosting video of locals on your website. Much bettah.
